But haven't had in years.

This AM I decided to have eggs since its Sunday and I have time...

I wanted to use up anything left in the refrigerator, and saw cream cheese !!

My mom used to make cream cheese omelets, OMG yum. I loaded up on the lactaid :)

I added the last 3 kalamata olives I had left too.

please share your favorite

She would make tuna fish sandwiches with celery and mayo. I don’t like tuna anymore, but I remember I loved these sandwiches.

She also used to do this chicken paprika thing. I loved that.

And, of course, all of her Italian food— manicotti and stuffed shells to be specific.

No, my tastebuds have totally changed. I liked it when I was younger, but I have no desire to eat it now.

ETA: except for the stuffed shells and manicotti Chat Icon

My mom make the best pancakes, more of a thicker crepe style than American pancakes.
During the summer she would make them for dinner with fresh blueberries.
I don't have the recipe and cannot recreate them.

Geez, I really miss them.

She used to make mini poppy seed loaves. I don't know what it was but I remember them. Years later when I asked her, she had no idea what I was talking about, so no recipe.
My Nana used to make me soft boiled eggs. I craved them all the time when I was pregnant. But I can not make them the way she did. Apparently maybe the trick is to serve in a measuring cup which she always did and I refuse to do.

My mom always made an almost soupy pasta with broccoli, red beans and tomato. It was made with tubetti or ditali... omg we would eat it until our bellies felt like bursting... I nicknamed it belly buster pasta. i cannot recreate her version no matter how hard I try, even though DH loves mine

Yes !!!!!
Never had them in soup, she made them with either blueberries or sliced apples sprinkled with sugar, or plain and topped with applesauce. I loved the leftover ones, eating them cold with jam or Nutella rolled up inside.

It's been about 16 years since I've had them, and I can smell and taste them. Shoot, now the tears are coming.

Sorry! I didn’t mean to bring on tears. I think the Pfannkuchensuppe must be a Southern German thing. I like it, but I prefer a nice grießnockerl Suppe.

No worries. Mutti's birthday is at the end of this month and the anniversary is in September, so I am a bit emotional around this time of the year.
14 years since she passed, and I still tear up easily.
I think I am really going to try to find a pfannkuchen recipe like hers. Maybe because she was born in the North they are a bit different.

Re: What did mom make as a kid that you loved....

My grandfather used to make me when I was little what I called “egg in a cup”. I later found out it was a soft boiled egg with white bread all cut up and mixed together in a cup. He used to put it in a soup cup. I’ve tried to recreate it but of course cannot. I remember one day when I was little asking my mom for it for breakfast and she had no idea what I was talking about and had to call him to find out what I wanted LOL

The video mentions Backpulver, but the recipe does not. Hmm? I would think you need it for Pfannkuchen. I guess just search around on the site.

If you search around on that site, you will probably find a few good recipes for Pfannkuchen and other German food.

Pierogies with sauerkraut and kielbasa. Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and corn.

And although we're not at all Italian, I loved her lasagna as well as her spaghetti with bolognese sauce.

My grandma used to make what she called Pizzaiola sauce, but she used tuna fish in it (sounds gross, but holy crap was it good). Miss it, and her.
