Ok, I know I'm gonna get flamed, but whatever.
Personally, it sounds like this woman is on a mission. Her words exactly "the security guard came over and said there is a family restroom you could use". He didn't say she had to leave, he didn't say she had to cover up, etc.
Another reason why I feel this woman is on a "mission" is she said its happened before. She doesn't use covers. I'm not saying she has to. All this to me sounds like she is trying to "prove a point".
Listen, I know its everyone's right to breastfeed anywhere. I worked at Chuck E. Cheese for 8 years and saw many different woman BF. I saw the more discret woman do it in a booth with a cover. But then there would be those that would come up to the register, boob out and about to buy more tokens while there kid is "eating".
I personally am not offended by BF, but I do think there is certain places for BF. As am mom I know you can't time when and where your kids will get hungry. I know a lot of malls have "family restrooms" with couches, etc to make it comfortable for everyone. I just think some women find it there "mission" to BF in public. No covers, anywhere, anytime. Like I said about, the women that would buy food at the register at Chuck E. Cheese while there infant is nibbling. Not the place at the register.
No flames!
The place he told her to go to is about a 15 minute walk away. (I know this because I lived there and frequented that mall.)
I would have loved if Smithaven had a family restroom with couches. There isn't even a chair in the one near the food court. The restroom by Fridays did have two small endtables that I used to sit on.
I never used a cover up because Michael always pulled it off anyway. But I always covered myself someway.
Personally, I dodn't think was trying to make a mission out of this. She was in a kid area. What is she had an older child that was playing? Can you keep taking your older child away every hour to feed your newborn? (I know Michael was big and fed every hour, so maybe every child doesn't eat that often, but that was my experience.)
I still love you Kerry and thank you for speaking up!

Also wanted to add-- about the other kids seeing her feeding her baby....my DD has asked me what her nipples are for...I tell her that they're for feeding her baby when she's a mommy....not sure what other people tell their kids who would ask the same question, but DD would totally "get it" because that's what she's taught, KWIM? I'm certainly not teaching her to walk around with her top off while growing up, that boobs out are ok...but her breasts are for feeding a baby when she's a mommy, KWIM?
What do I tell my son that his nipples are for?

eh, not sure what to think. If she was not covered she should have moved. I would not like to have to explain to say a 6 year old boy what she was doing. I think she is making way too big of an issue, why is this even in the news

Honestly, I wouldn't ever have thought about BF'ing in a child's play area, it's a child's play area...I don't understand why she would have even wanted to...
My friends that BF now, wouldn't do it either. There is always another option than sitting in a crowded area and BF'ing. That may be something that I get "flamed" for, but I never cease to be amazed by the things I read on here
