What else needs to be done when you move your DC to their "big kid" bed?
We're considering putting the toddler railing on our 2 y/o's crib. What else do we need to do in her room to 'toddler' proof it in case she's up overnight?
We're already anchoring all of the furniture to the walls. Should we get some kind of drawer lock for her dressers? Should we remove the glider so she doesn't go joyriding? Put a baby gate on the outside of the door not just close the door behind us even though she can't open it with the knob?
Thanks for any advice!

I would definitely do drawer locks. We just switched our son's crib about a month ago. He cant reach the doorknob yet, but we know one day he'll just suddenly be able to, so we put a doorknob cover on. You might want to do the same so she doesn't open the door one day before you realize she is able to!

i like the idea of putting up a gate in the doorway - my friend did that - so you aren't closing a door that they can't open. I would put outlet covers in.

I would put a gate up. I would put it in front of the door so they can't leave the room but my sister put hers in the hallway b/c its only her room and the babies room. But this they can't down the stairs. I would block her door b/c we have closets and a bathroom she could get into.
DD already went through the drawer phase. She never climbed them but took EVERYTHING out for a few days. I tried locks but they didn't work so well, but you could try.

The only thing I did was cover the outlets and use a rail on her twin. Never anchored, gated or locked draws. Tv is already wall mounted and wires are hidden.

We put a gate on his door so he can't get out and wander in the night. He never gets out of bed and will call us if he needs something. We got lucky I guess.

We put some covers over the outlet lol. She does play in her room, but at nap time or bedtime it's time to sleep. She likes to read in bed and play with her dolls in bed. I think it really depends on your child. I don't do drawer locks because she likes to get her diapers out or her clothes by herself. My only suggestion would be to take any loud or really distracting toys out. Like I said we have some dolls, stuffed animals, and books in her room. That's it. SO even if she does play it's all imaginary and nothing to artificial. KWIM?
