No one told me about the nasty drink they make you drink before you get an epideral. ( I threw mine up)
I had an epidural and didn't have to drink anything...
What did the give you???
I think it was an antacid. It came in a little cup. I chugged it and then was screaming for my DH to get a bucket for me to throw up in.

No one told me how painful it was to pee after giving birth. I think I peed once a day just because it was so painful!
No one told me that they give you stool softenres after birth. The day after I gave birth, I was given two. Needless to say I was in the bathroom all night with the runs
I think that's about it.
I had NONE of this.
No one told me that it wouldn't be nearly as bad as I thought it might be.
No one also told me that when they asked if a student nurse could be a part of my L&D that it might be a MALE nurse.
Poor guy...... I think we traumatized him.

Re: What I wish someone would have told me about labor...!!!!
Wish I wouldn't have worried about what people said before I actually experienced it myself.
Go in with NO EXPECTATIONS. You know what they say about "plans"...
This is going to be gushy...just a warning. Its a JOURNEY. Take it as it comes, keep your eye on the prize, and realize that no matter WHAT goes down, you'll probably forget it and want to do it all again soon.
Really though... no need to get worked up over something that may go SO MUCH BETTER than you anticipated! You're so lucky to have that sweet baby, you really won't care what you have to do to get him out.
I was NOT the mothering type. I even considered not having kids... hah. I can honestly say that birthing my son was the most incredible thing I've ever done. I felt better about myself in that one moment than I ever have in my whole life. I couldn't believe that I was strong enough to get that baby out. Three tough pushes, and voila, out came my world

No one told me before that you still bleed (and bleed) after a c-section.
That's the worst of it for me. Oh, and puking after, as a result of the spinal.
Also, no nurses warned me that there would be someone in my room literally every 4 hours to check on me (this was my first stay in a hospital). The first night, the aide came in at 4am and woke me from a sound sleep to go to the bathroom. I was NOT happy, esp when I was presented with the mile long maxi-pad!

i didn't vomit or drink anything before my epi. Nobody told me that I would shake/shiver during labor and even after from the hormones...even before the epi.

I was woken at 4am for a blood draw, when I delivered at 10:30pm
