I don't dye, but I JUST read last night in tThe Everything Pregnancy Book that doctors think dying is fine. They say it is not left on the scalp long enough to get into the blood stream and make any sort of impact, stating how long it takes for topical medications to work and stuff like that. I am no authority on the subject, but just thought I would share what I read.

I was wondering the same thing! I asked my Dr and he said it was perfectly fine...so I'll probably go get it done. I'm going to talk to my hairdresser and see what she thinks! I'm also stretching it out. I luckily got it done right before conceiving...I'll wait until Christmas and then maybe right before my shower!

This, like anything else, is about your comfort level.

I get highlights and a glaze and have done so throughout my pregnancy (first at 5.5 weeks - my colorist knew I was preggo before my mom ) and again at about 20-22 weeks. My salon uses Aveda which are natural dyes - something that's been important to me long before becoming pregnant.

If your doc says yes and you really want to, go for it. But if you're not comfortable and can live without the color for 9 mos, don't worry about what the rest of us would do.

I got hilites at 12 weeks - doc said it was absolutely fine. No worries!

I never did it with my first 2 pregnancies and ddidn't want to risk it. However, with this one I have dyed my hair with an anmonia free/natural dye product from whole foods. IT's actually so much nicer than the regular boxed brands I've used and lasts a lot longer thus far. I plan on dying my hair 1 or 2 more times before I give birth, making it a total of 3x int he pregnancy (non-harsh chemical product).

I colored my hair (single process) twice when I was PG. And I got highlights once also.

The single process I got done the first time before I knew I was pg and the second time in the 3rd trimester.

I never asked my dr about it, my hairdresser told me it was up to me.

I did, however, go into labor 7 weeks early. Did the hair coloring have anything to do with that? Hard to say, but if I could change it, I would have waited until after.

I did it in my 2nd trimester and it was fine

My doctor also said it was fine. I dyed my hair at 11.5 wks but with a glaze to cover the grays. My hairdersser said it wasn't chemically based and it washes out so it is fine.
