Re: What is your religion?

JT and I were both raised Roman Catholic, but we do not practice any religion. We celebrate Christmas and Easter and what not, but with no religious ties whatsoever. We will have to bring our children up Catholic so our parents and grandparents don't have heart attacks, but I don't really want to. My parents wouldn't care, but the rest of the family would be upset. Religion means nothign to me, so I might as well do it for my family.

We were both raised catholic but we consider ourselves Christians, although we don't belong to a particular church.

Re: What is your religion?

I'm a "recovering Catholic" as I tell people

DH was raised ethnically Jewish... holidays and food. The last time he was in a temple was his Bar Mitzvah and he's 37. I know more about Judaism than he and I went to Catholic school for 12 years.

We have joined the Unitarian Fellowship of Huntington. They are very welcoming to interfaith couples and are an inclusive community not exclusive.

Our children will be attend religious education classes there and learn about ALL faiths. They will celebrate Hannukah and Passover with DH's family and Easter and Christmas with mine. In our own home we will teach about both sides as well as the other world religions as I teach world history. I want them to see the commonality amongst the religions of the world so they are more accepting of others.

Our immediate families accept it. I really don't care what our extended families have to say. I don't tell them what to believe andd I don't want them telling me.

I was born to a Jewish mother and a Roman Catholic father, raised with a little of each. DH is Roman Catholic. DD was baptized and we attend an Episcopal church regularly!

Re: What is your religion?

I was born catholic, dh was born catholic, but then his mother left the church, and he was raised prebyterian from about age 9 on.

At this point, i consider myself agnostic, dh is christian.

If i decide to join a church, it will probably be the United Church of Christ. From what I know, they seem much more aligned with my beliefs.

We were both born Catholic...I attended an Episcopal church for a while growing up...
We got married in a Roman Catholic church( DH's) ...he still believes for the most part he is a Catholic...He obviously doesnt follow it strongly though.

i am more of a realist as I dont believe all that much in organized relgion and am not sure what I believe, I do believe in God though.

Re: What is your religion?

We are both Greek Orthodox.
I converted- very similiar to what I grew up with. My mom is protestant and my dad in catholic so between the 2 of them this wasn't too foreign.

Re: What is your religion?

I was raised Catholic but have since left the church. DH was raised Jewish, attended Hebrew school, had a bar mitzvah but is not 'practicing' - more culture than religion.

We are as yet undecided about children. I will not raise them Catholic so that is not an option. It will be devastating to my mother but she'll have to get over it, I'm not going to force beliefs on my child(ren) that I don't believe in just to please someone else. I don't know how I feel about them being raised Jewish. Generally, I'm not a fan of institutional religion as a whole - my experience and view is that it's more exclusive than inclusive and that is not how I want my children raised. I keep telling DH we should just raise them Buddhist Chat Icon

So, it remains to be seen. Whatever religion we pick, if any at all, they will of course celebrate all of the holidays of our families because we view those more as tradition than religion.

Re: What is your religion?

Both of us are Roman Catholic. I'm the only practicing one though as DH has some church issues.

If we have Children I'd like to baptize them, but at the moment it's a big debate.
