What made you decide whether to be Team Green or to find out the sex?
Just curious. We aren't sure what we are doing yet.

we want to find out the sex because we're both planners and i wanted to be able to decorate the baby's room for either a boy or girl.

Re: What made you decide whether to be Team Green or to find out the sex?
My husband really did not want to find out. He had a bunch of reasons including that their were no real true surprises in life anymore and that we plan on having more children so this will really make us stick with gender neutral items. Most importantly (and the reason that got me to agree) was that he felt like he had no part in the pregnancy that I got to do it all and the one thing he really really wanted to do was be able to walk out to the waiting room and tell everyone it's a boy or it's a girl. I have to say it's been so fun!!

Re: What made you decide whether to be Team Green or to find out the sex?
We are going to find out whether the baby is a or a . We both want to know, to paint the room and pick out decor, but for me I think it will make it more 'real', if that makes sense. Even at 17 weeks I'm still in shock that we're having a baby!!
For us, it's still a surprise, just an earlier surprise . We keep telling people (like DH's mom) who say, "don't you want to wait?" that we can always wait to tell them until after baby is born!!!!

Re: What made you decide whether to be Team Green or to find out the sex?
We are Team
I always thought I'd want to find out -- heck I figured I'd NEED to know. But for some reason as time went on, I realized it would be pretty awesome not to know.
One of the reasons that helped sway me was that when I had about 4 friends pregnant at the same time last year, 3 out of 4 of them knew what they were having.
Now it was very exciting and all -- without a doubt no matter what, that they were all having babies. But when everyone knew what they were having, it just seemed as if everyone was just waiting to hear the length & weight of the baby...and that's it. Everyone essentially knew roughly when the baby was coming, the sex, the name already....and while it was still exciting...it just seemed there was something missing from it all.
For the one friend who didn't know what she was having, we were all dying to know what it was going to be and what the name could be....and the excitement surrounding all the guesses and speculation was pretty fun.
There are very few surprises left in life, and I think this could possibly be one of the greatest surprises you can experience. This pregnancy was a bit of a surprise, and well, we figured we would keep it going! DH, before we got pregnant, had also always said he would want to know. But once we got a BFP -- he was in the same boat as me. He wants that moment in the delivery room, and the moment telling everyone in the waiting room and over the phone "It's a..........."

We were always going to be team green with the kids until we got pregnant with twins this time around. Since there are 2 and will be our last we kind of need to know and plan what's going on, at least that's how we feel.

Re: What made you decide whether to be Team Green or to find out the sex?
with #1 we wanted to prepare and be able to buy things according to the sex, I didnt want a ton of yellow, green and white outfits.
With #2 I was scared that I would be disappointed if it were another girl b/c I was so sure I was having a boy. So we found out at first it was a shock but now I'm ecstatic. I'm glad that DD with have a little buddy and I can not wait to meet my little girl!!

Re: What made you decide whether to be Team Green or to find out the sex?
to me i wanted either girlish stuff or boyish stuff and wanted to know ahead of time
i hate surprises anyway and to me if you have the technology why not?
to me either having a boy or a girl is not a big enough surprise to wait
if it could be 1 of 50 things maybe lol

Re: What made you decide whether to be Team Green or to find out the sex?
We are staying team green. I am not very good with surprises and actually shocked myself that I wanted to remain team green, but I think the guessing and hearing everyone else guessing is so much fun. Plus this is our first child and we hope to have more, so rather then buying pink or blue things, we wanted to keep everything gender neutral.

Re: What made you decide whether to be Team Green or to find out the sex?
We are Team ! Although I normally HATE suprises and am a big time planner, I think there are few surprises in life that are worth the wait and anticipation and this is it. Not gonna lie, it's hard to stay , but it will be worth it in the delivery room to hear them say after 9 months, "It's a......!" I tear up thinking about that moment.

DH wants to know but I don't - I feel there is not a lot in life to be suprosed about anymore Plus I just feel that everyone would know and then they would want to know names and to me there is no suprise left in the phone call That is just me - DH wants to know if it is a that he can give all his sports stuff too - he wants a little buddy

Re: What made you decide whether to be Team Green or to find out the sex?
Team We were Team with DS and I am sooo happy we were. There are so many surprises you get in life. You can always paint a room after or change the bedding you got from your Shower.
I'm especially more excited about team this time is b/c I have a boy already. I'd love a girl, but as long as the baby is healthy that's all that matters. I figured the moment he/she comes I'll just be so thrilled and excited and as long as the baby is healthy that's all that matters.
Plus, I think everyone loved guessing and DH was excited to say.... It's a ****! I had friends who found out and told us the name so there was no big "surprise" factor. We like not saying names or the sex.

Re: What made you decide whether to be Team Green or to find out the sex?
With DS - I knew all along we would be there was no doubt. I loved the tradition of it, I loved the anticipation, I loved hearing all the guesses and reasoning, it made it more exciting IMO. I also loved being the one who didnt find out amongst all my friends who just "had to know" I was totally connected to DS in the womb even though I didnt know boy or girl. And I loved giving DH that moment to tell everyone, "Its a boy" It was a great experience!
With this DC. I actually wanted to find out. Since I had DS I said next one I will find out because its our last and I would have both experiences. I had all practical reasons, being able to set up the room, having DS more involved, knowing if he was going to have a brother or a sister, being able to pass on our boy clothes if its a girl. DH didnt want to know. Then he couldnt attend the 20 week sono, so I had the tech write the gender in an envelope. DH still was saying NO and I wouldnt look if he wouldnt. Then we went on vacation and I realized I didnt want to know either. With DS is was a great, amazing wonderful moment to hear its a boy and see/touch/hold him! I was afraid I would be kinda let down if they told me its a boy/girl and all I got was a sono pic and a piece of paper. I do have a strong gut feeling with this DC that I Didnt have with DS so I kinda feel like I know already.
But really in the end there is NOTHING like the thrill of being in the delivery room and hearing them announce the gender. I have never had the other experience but I can't imagine that it would be as BIG a moment....

1. i always said i would never find out for my first 2. i feel knowing ahead of time takes away a little bit from the excitment of the whole process 3. i like when people guess and use old wives tales 4. i love everyone being in the waiting room on the edge of their seats waiting for DH to announce the big news 5. its th eultimate life surprise....nothing else compares 6. it frustrates people that they dont know
i'm a huge planner and it irks me not to be able to decorate the room gender specific but the other reasons outweigh that one reason

Re: What made you decide whether to be Team Green or to find out the sex?
With #1 DH and I just felt the need to be totally prepared.
I wanted to stay team green this time until we found out it was twins. Then we just needed to know since we couldn't re-use DS's nursery since it was too small. And we had just painted what was supposed to be DS's big boy room blue.
Glad we did find out since they are and knowing will just help us plan better.

Re: What made you decide whether to be Team Green or to find out the sex?
Everyone is so different and those who do find out can't imagine not knowing...and vice versa. We were ...my husband used to always say before we were ever pregnant that he would absolutely want to know...he thought it was dumb that people didn't find out. Then he saw 6 of my nieces and nephews be born...all surprises. He loved us waiting in the waiting room all day while my sisters were in labor...he loved how the excitement built up more and more as each minute passed with the not knowing and just wondering what the heck it was....that did it for him. As soon as we found out we were pregnant he knew he wanted it to be a surprise. We loved not knowing...we couldn't imagine knowing ahead of time. I wanted all pink or blue...I was SO not into neutral so I just waited. It was no big deal. The baby slept in our room until she was almost 4 mos old anyway...so I had all that time to order the bedding, get the room painted and decorate. We had a and I pinked it up! I always say that moment where the baby pops out is just the most exciting thing ever...you are literally waiting with baited breath for your doctor to say boy or girl. But I know those who find out ahead of time say that when they find out at 20 weeks it's just as exciting. I personally can't imagine it is but everyone is different. If you are on the fence...I urge you to try and hold out...I promise you it makes all the pain and pushing that much more bearable b/c you are just dying to know what's about to pop out of you. And please no flames...I said 3 times everyone is different. I respect everyone's decision who finds out and who doesn't find out.....everyone obviously thinks whatever they did is better. So I'm just giving you my side

#3 above is a good point...it's really funny when you are weeks 30+ and everyone and anyone you meet will stand there and try and guess what you're having. It's funny to hear what people think and their reasons why they think it. There was one person - the guy at my bagel store...he took one look at me at like 38 weeks and he was like "you're having a girl"...he had nothing to back it up. I told him I'd come back in a few weeks and let him know if he was right - he said not to bother...he knew he was right. And he was.

Another PS to the above....regarding #4....I hate the idea of everyone finding out without me there to see their reactions. I delivered at Winthrop and DH brought EVERYONE in to the room I delivered in about 20 minutes after DD was born.....we told them together as I laid there looking like a swollen beast holding our new baby girl. It was amazing! It was after 11pm at night and all 9 of our nieces and nephews were there ages 5 and under! They all stayed up dying to see what their new baby cousin was...it was the best!
