What should we get... iPad or Macbook?
My 7 year old ibook is on its last leg so we are now trying to decide between the new iPad or a new macbook laptop.
The iPad is half the price and I really only use my laptop now for email, surfing the web and uploading pics/video. We have an imac desktop that DH uses for his freelance design work so it has all the programs if I need to use photoshop or word, etc.
Do you think the iPad is worth it or should we wait and save up for a macbook?

I am torn too, so I'd love to see other responses.
I'm always concerned about buying first generation Apple products (or any brand really). The storage capacity is also very small, which may not be good if you're actually storing your pics/video on the iPad.
FWIW, I love my iPhone and think that the iPad could be great.
It's too bad you have to buy them sight unseen right now...I'm not sure if it would get annoying typing on the touch screen or the external keyboard.

macbook PRO.. If you're going to get the macbook spend the extra 100-150 bucks and get the pro... =)
I wouldn't go with the ipad... you can get much more with the macbook.

such a tough choice!! i have one of the newer macbook pros (got it in oct) and i LOVE LOVE LOVE it, but of course i now want the ipad as well and DH says no way! lol! i think if you only use your laptop for email, web and photos, it may be a good idea to get the ipad. they come out in stores in just a couple of weeks so maybe hold off until then and go see it/touch it/play with it in the store! good luck! if you do get an ipad, please post what you think of it! i'm very curious about the pros/cons!

I wouldn't get an iPad until they iron out the kinks. The first few generations of iPhones had some major problems.
I'd get the Macbook and wait for the iPad.

i would say in theory Ipad but since every product new has too many issues i would go with the laptop.
