What strategies would you use
I have a 2nd grade student who has difficulty counting. The student is classified, in a collab setting. Anyways I have tried a number strip, counting boxes on a hundreds chart, even counting with blocks and fingers. Nothing is working.
Since the student has trouble counting, he also has difficulty adding and subtracting. He is falling behind and I don't know what else to do. Please help!

Teach him touch math dots for addition and subtraction. They work wonders. When he gets up to it, teach him touch money as well.

I totally agree with touch math... awesome program.
Also, can figure out which numbers are confusing the child? For example, I often find 11-15 are confusing and then the "teen" (eg. 19) numbers are often confused with the "-ty" (eg. 90) numbers. I have used different strategies to address both issues.
Good luck!
