Yes, this! DH has a friend who has a pizza place and he ended up giving some.
I couldn't find tofu (ended up finding at North Shore Farms), chicken nuggets (ended up finding them at Walgreens of all places - and on sale!) and mac & cheese (again at North Shore Farms). My 10 year old has reverted to eating like she's 5 again LOL
I haven't been shopping in three weeks- I send DH and we're only shopping at North Shore Farms, so we are limited in what we can get there anyway. He also did a BJs run last week, so we're good.

A webcam. Ugh. My laptop is from 2015 and didn't come with one. I have a million zoom meetings for work so I have to log in from my laptop and also from my phone so they can "see me". Just so annoying. The earliest I can get one from Dell is July.
I work in IT and laptops are very hard to come by too..everyone ordered them all up for their employees to work from home. Out salespeople are having a hard time procuring them for our customers But on the upside that's a perfect excuse not to be on video. I disabled my camera so i can't turn it on. If anyone were to question it the perfect excuse is not enough bandwidth at home so the videowon't work. Haven't had to use that one yet...but it's in my back pocket. Nobody needs to see me. Ridiculous
My DH said that his co-worker can't get a Nintendo Switch anywhere for his son either. Actually, right before this started, my son was badgering me for something that I knew if we were quarantined it would be a problem for me for him not to have it so I did pick up in store for Game Stop. The place was PACKED.

Last week I could not get a normal size box of confectioner's sugar. Also, my neighbor asked me to pick up Pillsbury banana bread mix and that was wiped out too. Actually i noticed most of the baking stuff was wiped out. I could not get buttermilk either. How weird is that?
Target was still wiped out of sanitary products the other day.
I could not get an avocado the other day either.
I wish I knew someone who worked at a grocery store so they can explain the stocking process to me. i have become very fascinated by it with this whole ordeal.
What do you want to know. Both of my parents have been in the grocery business since the 70s.
All businesses have local warehouses. Those warehouses typically have adequate supplies for all the stores they service. That is obviously not true now. The warehouses provide trucks to each store. They try to divide up what the stores need. A store might get a few pallets of paper towels. Typically this fills the shelves until the next delivery. People now are hoarding those so they are pretty much out of stock shortly after the store opens. Due to the hoarding, the warehouses do not have adequate stock.
I will say I live upstate and am having a much easier time finding food and other goods except hand sanitizer. Shelves are definitely not well stocked but I can find whatever I need.
Oh, okay thanks for the explanation. That's what I was curious about and was wondering where all the products came from and how they were distributed. Do they get deliveries all day long and re-stock as they come in or do they typically re-stock overnight? If you REALLY need something when is the best time to go?
I really do not understand why people are still hoarding TP and papertowels. One BJ's thing of TP can last my family of 5 at least 4 months. I notice now I change the roll in each bathroom-that's with us being home 24/7- once a week, so that's 2 rolls per week. I started with 36 rolls. That's 18 weeks. I'm good until like mid-June. IF people bought as needed, we wouldn't be having this problem!

Re: What "unusual" things have you had a hard time getting?
My random things I have been trying to get for a MONTH..... I am not going store to store or anything, I am trying to limit going out so it's not like an emergency where I am on a mission to get them, but over the course of 4 weeks I have tried several places and I can't get:
Organic Frozen strawberries (none at local BJs, Target, stop and shop)
Chicken Ramen soup (kids like it as a treat)
Flour tortillas (hardshell yes, no flour)
All the other things mentioned here I have been able to get, maybe out one week but then in stock the next (like the tater tots).

Make your own yeast by starting a sourdough starter.
You’re so cute that you think I have any clue what that means!
Giving me waaaay too much credit I’m useless in the kitchen. It makes me Sad but it’s true

I saw all of that stuff at King Kullen last week. KK has been pretty well stocked. I have gone to 2 different ones and was able to get everything I needed, including wipes.
Actually I'm not 100% the strawberries were organic.

It’s really easy. You said you can make bread, so try out sourdough!
Starter
She uses whole wheat, but I just used A high gluten bread flour. However, whole wheat might be a better option to make it go quicker.
I had for years, but it died because I didn’t take care of it. I’m going to start another one today.

someone else mentioned garlic on here- something to do with Easter? People using it in their lamb? I have no clue because we never have lamb for Easter but I read that on here I think.
In terms of meat- I read this article.
Meat shortage

Re: What "unusual" things have you had a hard time getting?
I went to Walmart this morning. I swear I have to go to the store every 3 days because my kid drinks 2 gallons of milk in those 3 days. Anyway, tampons are pretty much gone. So annoying. Didn't people have their period before this?

My husband goes every few days for drinks too. I find it so annoying as I have no problem drinking water. I use pads but they were hard to find the first week but luckily they replenished the next week and got some. I should have enough for next month but might just grab them when I see them just in case.

I drink water all day long, but my son must have his milk for his breakfast, and then his second breakfast, each and every day (he's autistic and a creature of routine)

I was going to go to Gamestop and get back up headsets lol but didn't.
My friend can't find a Switch either. Others are having issues finding basketball hoops or trampolines.

Trucks typically deliver overnight so stock would be best in the morning. With that said, if an item is not on the truck, there is nothing to pack out. I go right at 7am and have been able to find pretty much everything I need except hand sanitizer, but I don't really need that as I am not leaving my house. I have a few tiny ones that I keep in my car.

Tea bags. Regular plain old tea bags. My preferred brand is red rose. I will drink Lipton if I have to, but it’s out everywhere.
