What would you consider a generous tip for 2 garbage men?

(Sorry if that's not the PC term to use )

We only moved in at the end of September but we've had a TON of garbage from throwing things out (the previous owners left a lot of crap by the curb!) and huge amounts of carpet and carpet padding. They have picked up absolutely everything. We've also noticed that the garbage pail isn't halfway down the street like it used to be in Nassau - it's almost always exactly where we left it. When you live on a hill like we do that's a big deal!

So what would you consider a generous, but not outrageous, gift for the holidays?

we gave them each 20 dollars for the same reason.... we moved in this summer and really loaded them up somedays

If you really like them - give what you can afford along with a note showing your appreciation.

I tip like crazy so if they took A LOT of stuff - I personally would tip $50 each.

Definitely write a note though!

We tip our garbage men well because of the same reason. We give them $25 each. There are three men on the truck, so they get $75 total. And because we tip them like this for the last 2 years, our pails are always up in our driveway neatly. They are also our local fireman, so we like to treat them well.

i think $20 each is generous.

We give $20 total , but in your situation where they have been picking up alot of garbage, I think I would do $20 each

We're in the same situation as you are, or we may actually have had more garbage due to renovations.

They picked up EVERYTHING -- 15 bags - twice a week, 10 bulk items per week, and this went on for about two months.

We gave each guy $20 every week, and then for Christmas (gave it to them this morning) I gave two of them $50 with homemade chocolate dipped pretzels.

ETS: Our friends are Sanitation guys, so we're a bit overgenerous, but anywhere from $20 - $40 is good.

I gave each of them $20 this morning. They pick up absolutely everything. If we have a lot of stuff during the year, DH will go out and give them $20 on those days. They finally noticed that im just about 9 months pregnant today and actually brought my cans back to the house for me LOL
