When did you first give water?
DS is 4.5 months. He hasn't had a middle of the night bottle regularly in almost a month b/c he STTN almost every night but once in a while he wakes up and needs a small bottle to go back to sleep. My MIL keeps suggesting I try and give him water but I thought that they should be at least 6 months before they can have water. I have his 5 month appointment right after xmas, and will ask about it then, but just curious when you all started the water??

Re: When did you first give water?
DS had tea at 2 weeks and water with brown sugar at 7 weeks as per the ped. She said a little water isn't going to hurt them. We got the full "ok" at 5 months.

Re: When did you first give water?
We started it around 5 months, but I specifically asked the ped about it and she said an ounce or 2 on a really hot day (it was June) when we'd be in and out a lot was ok, but you don't want them to fill up on it. Then again, one of my best friends ped's had her start water at 1 week old. Every ped is so different- I'd prob just wait to see what yours says in a couple weeks.

Re: When did you first give water?
I've given water since pretty much the first week. With a little sugar, it helped with her constipation. Then, a little water would hold her off when I was trying to expand the time between feedings. BUT, for the middle of the night issue, I would suggest warm milk with a newborn nipple. The extra sucking should tire her out and put her right back to sleep

Re: When did you first give water?
by 4 months. The ped said water can't hurt them as long as they are getting the required amount of formula first.
