when they drop one nap...
was it when they hit major milestones (walking crawling etc)?
how did you know they were ready to drop it?
how much does the schedule change?
how old where they?
DS is 9m, and for a couple of weeks, he has trouble with one nap or the other. He doesn't really cry, he plays! He rolls around, babbles, throws his lovey around, stands up, sits down, etc etc.
I can't tell if maybe he just doesn't need the nap, because he'll end up falling asleep when he's supposed to wake up. He'll usually wake up before the hour is up because he'll be hungry. But I honestly don't know what to do, is it just because he's hitting milestones and excited about his new skills?
I also don't know which nap to drop, he takes one at around 9:30am and one at 2:00pm, and either one will give him trouble on a given day.
Of course MIL and my mom have completely opposite views on this and I'm totally confused. One says, he needs 2, 2 hour naps a day, the other says 1 hour nap a day is fine as long as he's happy.
WDYT?

Re: when they drop one nap...
Ds dropped to one nap a few months ago..he just turned one. he just wouldn't go down anymore...frustrating but he was happy..tired earlier but lasting. If he is ok...and just doesn't go down for that second nap...let it go.

Re: when they drop one nap...
DS has trouble napping and sleeping at 8 months after he was crawling and pulling up. We had to do CIO bc he was tired but fought it. He didnt drop to 1 nap yet, he wasnt ready.
Now at 11 months I think he's only taking 1 nap around 11am-1pm. That used to be his awake time. His naps used to be like 9-10 and 1-2 give or take.
9 months might be too early too only take 1 nap. But if he's happy then I would be ok with it. Exhausted and miserable is not fun! It might just have to do with his milestones at this point.

Re: when they drop one nap...
DS is 9 months and takes 2 or 3 naps a day! He was a terrible napper until around 4-6 months. Now he will usually take 2 naps, but sometimes goes for a third late, like 6pm! So I'm no help in that, BUT I've heard they usually drop a nap around the age of 1pm.
Since he's still falling asleep after he plays for a while, I would keep putting him down for a nap and see what he does. It might just be a phase.

Re: when they drop one nap...
Thanks for the replies, I understand why no one answered this, till i bumped it twice, I guess cause its such a mystery in some ways, you can't just read their minds.
Any other insight hugely appreciated.
If they drop a nap, is it usually the earlier one?
