We always get connected to one of the nurses. One, more serious occasion, the doctor called me back. I don't know whether or not they record it in my kids charts.
That would bother me if I was only able to speak to the receptionist.

Usually a nurse speaks to me. Sometimes the receptionist will answer a question if it's common and they are confident in the answer.
Nothing you describe in your OP sounds very unusual. I wouldn't have expected the ped to be willing to give you any advice about what to take when pregnant.

Ped usually calls me back (I have had a few instances where a nurse will call back, but that's usually after she's spoken to the Dr). At night/after hours, the ped on call always calls me back.
I assume they record my call in DS's chart bc if I call after hours, they usually call the next day to check in, esp if I spoke to the Ped on call.

When you call your pediatrician with a question...
We use a practice and one of the doctors always calls me back and answers any question, I would certainly accept a nurse but not a receptionist, they are not qualified to answer medical questions .

My dr always calls back. I've called many times and they always take a message and my pediatrician will call back in a few hours if its a non emergency within a shorter time if its urgent.

The doctor always gets on the phone as soon as I call with any question. I never have to wait for a call back. He is very busy, but treats all his patients like they are his own children.

The doctor always calls me back or the receptionist goes and asks if it's a quick question.

The nurse will take my child's info., the reason for my call and the doctor always calls me back!! I never had a reason for a follow up call, but I know other patients who have received follow up calls.

When you call your pediatrician with a question...
It's usually the receptionist or a nurse. A couple of times a doctor or NP has called us back depending on the severity of the issue. They have always been very nice no matter who I have spoken to.

When you call your pediatrician with a question...
Always the Doctor and I would never accept any answer from the receptionist. If he can't speak to me when I call he calls me back usually within the hour.
