both times wheeled to the door with the baby in the carrier on my lap. nobody checked my seat.

When you left the hospital w/ baby
With DS I was wheeled out. DH carried DS in the carseat.
When DD was discharged from the NICU, they put DD in her carseat, wrapped in her blankets and wheeled her on a cart our to our car. I walked.

I was wheeled out with the baby in the carseat, which I had on my lap!
No one checked anything before we headed out.

I was wheeled out and DH carried DS in the car seat.
Nurses do not check the car seat installation. They aren't trained on installation of all types of car seats and so don't check. Hospital/nurses do not want to be held liable in case of an accident where car seat issues and installation come into play.

The nurse just made sure we had it.
Then I was wheeled out with the baby in the car seat on my lap by an orderly type person.
DH brought the car around front and off we went.
Nobody ever checked the install in the car.

Wow, I am so surprised at the responses because the nurse didn't even check to see if we had a carseat nor did they check to see if it was on right. My DH brought the car seat up and we took the elevator down, no body escorted us down. I didn't know if this was something you had to request or they do it on their own. I honestly would of liked to be wheeled out since my DH had the baby and all these gifts to put in the car.

Same here... I left during a blizzard..so they peaked in the car and said all is good and ran back inside.

I was wheeled out to my car holding baby in the infant seat carrier. I was not wheeled out by a nurse but some guy they hire to do these things ... I guess. He just made sure he saw us click her in the car.

I actually tried to get someone to help me figure out how to adjust the straps etc in the carseat and no one was interested in helping us at all!
No one looked in our car either.

DH brought the carseat to the room, we put DS in, they checked it to make sure we put him in correctly and then I held it on my lap and they wheeled me to the car. They did not inspect it in the car. I was at Good Sam.

The nurse told us we must have the carseat there when we brought DS home, but they did not walk out with us to check the installation of it.

With DS I was wheeled out carrying him in the car seat and the nurse stayed to make sure the seat was good.
With DD (different hospital), she was in the NICU. I had to bring the carseat in for a "car seat check" before they would release her the next day. When she was ready for discharge, we carried her out.
