When you sold your home, where did you go?
We are going to go into contract (hopefully next week) but we don't have a house yet. Where did you go? How did you coordinate everything? Did you move right into the new house? Rent? Stay with family?

when is the closing date set for? i would extend the date so that you have time to find a home. curious as to why put your home on the market or agreed to the offer w/o having somewhere to move to. are you moving out of state?

We're moving from Putnam County back to Long Island to be closer to family. We couldn't put an offer on anything without the house in contract. Our closing date is on or about June 1st which gives us about a month. I would try to push it back but in this market it is very hard to get a buyer that is willing to pay what the buyers offer was so.......
It's not the same market as it was two years ago when we bought. Buyers really nickle and dime you and we can take the risk since we have an ARM adjusting in August.

we moved out of our apartment and into the house.
we closed on the 26th and moved on the 28th..
it worked out nice cause it was the end of the month!

Can you stay with friends or family if you dont find a house in time? Or perhaps look to sublet an apartment on LI? You could look on craigslist. there is a sublet section there.

we were able to close on both houses a week apart - I can't believe how perfectly it worked out, but when we think about another move, we say we will definitely sell the house before and move in with family/storage.

can you pay rent to the new owners to stay there a little longer after closing so you can find a new house? i know a few people who have done this.

Thanks everyone. I guess we would have to stay with someone. We have a little guy and soooo much stuff. I'm very nervous.
They are pushing us too (buyers) and we can't stay in after we close so.....

we had two weeks in between selling/moving out- and our closing, plus we wanted to paint and do the floors before we moved in-so we stay at my in laws house
