when you travel internationally w/a baby...
How do you wash the bottles??? I wouldn't want to wash DD's bottles in regular tap water from another country. What do you do?

Well, if the locals are doing it and their kids aren't dropping dead, its probably okay.
But I don't know if you can get them in the states, but here in England you can get a cold steralising kit, and steralising tablets to put in cold water.

Re: when you travel internationally w/a baby...
i know locals use the water....but tap water is something u can get sick from if it's not the tap you are used to. I am not saying their water is bad, but it's def. different.
I'll look into the cold sterilizing system thing. Thank you

If you are making your bottles with bottled water, you could just use that, or boil it first or use drop ins.

Re: when you travel internationally w/a baby...
it really depends on where you are going.
limestone deposits in Mexico make the drinking water harder on our stomachs.
I took my son to Italy and Spain in october and we were fine. no problems in the washing or the bottles/utensils.
to drink, I gave him bottled water. I was nursing so during the trip so I didn't need to mix any formula.

I agree, it really depends on where you are going. If your baby is still bottle fed, they have these individual formula bottles (I think by Similac) that you just attach a nipple to. If the water is really not safe anywhere you are going, this will probably be your best bet. I took DS1 on a cruise when he was 9 months. While I wouldn't drink out of the faucet water on the cruise, it was safe to wash the bottles and cups in. I brought a little bottle of dish soap and my bottle brush and just used REALLY hot water!

Well I never sterilized bottles anyway so maybe I am not the person you want to hear from, but when we took DD to Spain I used tap water for everything - including drinking.
We were all fine.

Re: when you travel internationally w/a baby...
I took DS to Mexico in March. I washed all his bottles with bottled water and then used a bottle sterilizer the hotel provided. I would call your hotel and see if they provide a sterilizer (or any other baby products). I was pretty surprised with the amount of baby products the hotel had on hand for us.

Re: when you travel internationally w/a baby...
definitely depends on where you are going... we traveled to Ireland when DD was an infant and used bottled or boiled, cooled water to make the bottles and the dishwasher or tap water to clean them. never thought to do otherwise.
