When your child is sick
do they sleep more than usual, less than usual, or about the same?
Both of my kids refuse to sleep when they are sick. It is so frustrating because they are so tired but fight it until they literally pass out from sheer exhaustion!
Erin is sick right now and it took me 4 hours to put her to bed last night, and she woke up at 2 am, and now refuses her nap, which she so deparately needs!

Re: When your child is sick
It depends on what he is sick with. Usually he will sleep more, but when he had a sore throat I could not get him to sleep longer than an hour at a time.

LESS, much less And I feel like it slows down her recovery. Even when she’s taking Tylenol or Motrin she still sleeps less than normal too.

When Lucas is sick he sleeps okay at night (wakes a few times but we try to let him go back on his own). Naps are a different story...I confess that we usually let him sleep on us when he is sick to get him to nap...we try the crib but he fights it.

This is Erin's problem! She would feel so much better if she rested. Instead, she is so irritable and miserable because she fights the urge to sleep!

This is us, word for word too. With this recent illness, DD will NOT nap in her crib, only on us. So it's not even as restful of a sleep. Once she's feeling better we've got to force her back in!
