DS hated sleeping anywhere for the first month except his swing or with someone holding him. One we solved his gas issues, he slept comfortably in his crib.

DD is in the pack and play in our room, but probably we will transition to her crib in a few weeks. During the day she naps in her swing, bouncer, car seat or in our arms. When she's tired, she'll sleep anywhere!

My DS was in his co-sleeper until he was 3 months and then into his crib. In the beginning try not to worry where they are sleeping. Just be happy THAT they are sleeping! :)

There are no 6 years olds still sleeping in their swings so know that eventually it'll work itself out!

Re: Where does your baby sleep at night?

First 4months she slept with us in our bed inside her 'snuggle nest'. We wanted to transition her out at 3months but she got sick and we kept her with us another month.

The Snuggle nest created a separate area for just her. So it had ‘walls’ and a ‘mattress’. I think this helped make it easier to put her into her own crib. We also put an incline inside the ‘nest’ so at nap times we just put her in her crib with the incline.

At four months we started putting her in her own crib to sleep overnight. I guess 4days a week we’d be good about not going in there and bringing her back to bed. Still I think most days we’d bring her back if she woke up at 3am or later because we figured it wasn’t worth the effort to go back and get her in a few hours anyway.

Slowly but surely we (all of us) lost that 3am wake up. So she stayed in her bed all night. She still woke up in the middle of the night (say 1am) but she’d go back to her own bed after we fed her. Id say by 6months it was routine to stay in her own crib.

At 9-10 months she went back to sleeping with us because we moved and my family was staying with us. She transitioned back into her crib and into our new apt with very little trouble.

Best of Luck!

Re: Where does your baby sleep at night?

Sean came home and slept in his crib from Day 1 -

People thought I was crazy, but he didnt' know any different, and I didn't know any different so I just figured it was easier for everyone to start from the beginning and have one less traumatic transition to deal with -

Your not alone. Landon loves to sleep in the swing (not turned on) he will sttn in the swing but not in his cradle. I only had a few succesul nights where he sttn in the cradle. I want to get him out of the swing sooner than later but not sure how.

This is us right now. DD is 13 weeks and she doesn't sleep through the night anymore in her bassinet. At first I was letting her sleep in there until about 3 when she would wake up, bringing her downstairs and feeding her and then putting her in the swing where she would stay till about 8. I would bring my blanket down and sleep on the couch.

For the past 2 nights she has slept through the night in the swing (11:30pm to 8:30 am) but I have been sleeping on the couch while she is in there. I am afraid to get this habit started so we are going to try the crib tonight. I am so scared I might just sleep on the floor in there. I can't tell if she feels to cramped in the bassinet or really likes that she is in a more sitting up position in the swing.

Glad Im not currently the only one going threw this.
Sometimes I think it is the softness of the fabric in the swing. I keep thinking if maybe I should get a nice thick mattress for the cradle or even use my changing table mattress (if it fits) in there, lol. Or maybe it is that he isn't laying down and likes to be up???

Let me know how it goes for you. Lets try to get threw this together.Chat Icon

Re: Where does your baby sleep at night?

abby slept in her 1st bassinet for 1 month.. then she had major issues with it so we slid it over and tried anyplace she would sleep, and that was her bouncy seat and she had to be on her side... so she slept there for about 5 weeks. Then we had a hand me down bassinet from a family friend it was a bit bigger so we used that... she refused to sleep in it.. BUT would sleep on our bed durring the day.. SOOOOOO i figured it was because our mattress was pillow top and her basinett was hard as a rock.. so i padded the mattress in the bassinet and it worked AWESOME. i put 2 really thick blankets under the sheet and she started sleeping through the night right away! she stayed there till last week. Now shes in her Crib with a soft mattress and again a thick blanket under the sheet. She sleeps 12 hours. you just gotta do what your baby wants! the crib is currently in o ur room since she doesnt have her own room yet!

Re: Where does your baby sleep at night?

ds slept in the bassinet for two weeks and we came to the conclusion that we were bothe absolutely exhausted from waking up with every feeding so we opted to move him to the nursery and it made life SOOOOO much better...

with baby #2 i will prob keep him/her in the bassinet longer though because now dh works overnights so that is not an issue

DS sleeps with us too in bed....I love it and he sleeps so much better in the bed, he hates the crib and I had him in the crib until 4 months and then he kept rolling onto to his belly (he couldn't roll back unto his back and hated to be on his belly, so literally every half hour he would wake up screaming and since I was back to work I needed my sleep and started the bad habit of putting him in the bed and now he hates the crib....)

Re: Where does your baby sleep at night?

DD sleeps in a crib in our bedroom. Its a second crib that we bought from Ikea with the intention of keeping her in our room longer than she would fit in a bassinet.

On the other hand she still at 3 months will ONLY nap in her swing. I have no idea how I'm going to be able to break the habit and get her to nap in the crib.

Re: Where does your baby sleep at night?

Ann sleeps in the PNP next to our bed. Sometimes she stirs around 1-2AM so I'll take her in our bed & nurse us both back to sleep. Then I'll nurse her again between 4:30-5AM before I have to get up.

She actually slept in her crib in the beginning then when my mom came to watch her for a month in Sept (while waiting for daycare to be available) we had her in the PNP for convenience and didn't transition back to the crib because since I went back to work, I liked the time we got to be close (even if it is sleeping!) and needed to not have to get up and go into her room, nurse and go back to our room and try to fall back to sleep.

During the day she sleeps in the swing or a crib at daycare.
