Re: Where would you go for your first vacation with an infant? Caribbean or Walt Disney World?
I'd be the wrong person to ask. I'd go to Disney but only because I won't take Abby out of the country for a while. I would take her to US Territories only. That's my neurotic nature.

I also think Caribbean now, Disney later!!!
ITA!
We did Carribean with DD#1 at 8 months and a cruise when she was 2.
I want to take them to Disney when they both can appreciate it.

No eyes rolling here. I would not take my infant out of the US for a while. I might go to the US Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico if I wanted a beach vacation with him.

I would go to Disney if I was taking my infant on vacation. IMO, if I was going to the Caribbean I would want to relax and enjoy the beach. It may be too hard to be on the beach every single day with an infant. How many hours can you stay on the beach with the infant? What happens if the infant hates it? At least in Disney, you can walk around and still enjoy yourself. You wont be stuck in the hotel room or walking around the resort looking at the same scenary, kwim?

DH is the one who suggested Florida and/or Disney because he thought it may be better to stay domestic for our first vacation. He thought it may be convenient to be able to drive to a BBB or CVS with ease. I, on the other hand, thought it would be easy to go to a resort in the caribbean. I love the sun! There isn't enough sun in florida for me in January.

I must be burning in hell in your eyes for taking Yael to Israel next month, at only 5 months!
Truth be told - I'm scared myself! I don't know WHAT the HELL I was thinking!

No eye rolling here I completely agree with you on this one. I would go w/ disney b/c you have multiple options. If it is warm enough you could swim (pools are heated and when we went in januarry back in 02 it was 79-82 during the day but cold at night.) At 10 months there is plenty to keep you busy. If you DC sleeps in the stroller you could do some quiet meals or have some down time. At that age I bet your DC would love the MK and parts of EPCOT - there is so much to see and take in - NO they won't remember it - but you will enjoy watching their face as they see characters for the 1st time and ride on things like Its a small world. There are very few rides with height restrictions (mostly the coasters and things of that nature).
We took DD at 15 months and she LOVED it - we took it slow and spent time at the resort -worked in resort and nap times into our day - but she still took one nap in the late morning in the stroller we used that time to sit and have a quiet cold drink and relax. (I found out I was expecting DD#2 on that trip so we didn't do the coasters and we still had a great time). They have baby centers in all 4 parks and they are very kid friendly.
Honestly no matter what trip you pick your child won't remember but you will have the family time and those memories so really you should pick based on more of your interests than what others think. To me the caribbean isn't as relaxing b.c there isn't as much other than the beach to sit on all day if you have a young child who can't do a lot of the activities. I'm not a fan of room babysitting so getting a quiet night alone wouldn't happen for us.
Etd to add we are going back for DD#2's 1st birthday - you can FM me for help planning if you decide you want to go to WDW. There are some fabulous discounts out new.

I feel the same way about Fla. in January. The 70s are too cool for me! I do feel that it is easier to go to a resort with a baby. We went to one in Hilton Head, SC but it was still warm there when we went. Still, my son is 2 and I am still not ready to take him out of the US.
