I was told neither has an advantage over the other. Each is made from different types of clays but one has no advantage over the other in terms of the value of your home.

Re: Which adds more value to your home (tile-wise)?
Honestly, for most things, what adds the most value to your home for resale is being able to mind-read what the buyer wants, and using that. For those of us who can't mind-read, just do what you think is nice. Some people will LOVE ceramic, and someone else will HATE it. You can never tell. For example, I personally don't like granite countertops, and neither does DW, so for us, granite counters would be a negative. For most other people, it's a positive....

Re: Which adds more value to your home (tile-wise)?
I was told that in general, porcelain is considered better because the color goes all the way through the tile, so if it chips you shouldn't notice it as much (I think it might be more durable too). If ceramic chips, you see the clay color underneath.
I think most important, if you're considering resale value, is to stay neutral with the color and design so it appeals to most people.

Updated kitchen and bath add value as well.
