I would say Mexico - but I really have no clue why.
Oh - and I didn't have my coffee yet (it's brewing) so you know both know I can't think without it!

DH has been asking to go away for a while and I keep saying no. I think we need to get away with the kids to spend some time together. Especially if we want a 3rd. We haven't gone away in 3 years

Re: which place would you think is better for a family vacation?
(I'm up...fed DS made coffee all by 7) but on to your question:
I say it depends on the time of year. You don't want to go to the Caribbean during hurricane season.

Re: which place would you think is better for a family vacation?
I am going with the Dominican Republiuc bc all that I hear about is "all inclusives". There nothing like not worrying about bills while travelling with small kids. To me Mexico was more party-ish and thats okay if you have a sitter. Personally, I would check out Turks and Caicos.

I would want to go in Oct. or Nov....do you think that is an O.K. time to go?

I am looking for all inclusive too, so DR and Mexico were the 2 most popular that I was looking at. Aruba also offers 2 hotels but they are a little more than I want to spend. Turks and Caicos looks gorgeous but just to much for me to spend right now.
Which hotel are you staying in and for how many days?

We did go to Playa Del Carmen a few years ago in Mexico - all inclusive. I believe it was called Iberostar. Look into them - they have a few different resorts throughout Mexico. They may list if some are more kid friendly.
See - I am much more helpful with coffee in my system!

November is a great time, but the flights can get $$$$$

Re: which place would you think is better for a family vacation?
I'm going with DR. While I've never been there, our friends rave about the places they stayed, the food, etc.
DH & I went to Puerto Vallarta in April (Dreams Resort) and absolutely loved it. All of my coworkers' kids loved the kid camps they had.
The only reason why I would pick DR over Mexico is it's a quicker flight.

Re: which place would you think is better for a family vacation?
I've been to DR, so I'd say Mexico. We went to a place in Nueva Vallerta once that seemed very family friendly (an all-inclusive type place). There was a ton to do at the resort and we took day trips to see the jungle where Predator was filmed!

I was thinking about the flights too but direct to Mexico was about 4 hours that I was finding which wasn't bad.
While looking at DR, I noticed it was cheaper too. Where are you staying and for how many nights?

Much better
I am looking into the Iberostar hotels actually and their are 4 in Playa Del Carmen. Do you remember which one you stayed it.
I did find the Melia hotle to look like the most kid friendly with toddler programs if I wanted but not sure about the hotel.
This is why I don't go away

Of course I looked on the website and couldn't remember....so I thought maybe I did a post about it - and sure enough - I did. Here is the link (other people responded - and maybe it will be helpful for you now!)
LINKY
I swear - this site is like my diary. I would have no memories if I couldn't come here and look them up!

I would go to Aruba.......we have been there and saw many families with children and having a great time. We stay at the Radisson and they have a kiddie pool, the beach is right there and you can get a hut right by the water.....We are trying to plan something for next year....

Re: which place would you think is better for a family vacation?
totally depends on the resort. I would check out resorts at both and see which fits your family's needs best.
