parents old cars, then parents leased a car for me which i paid the payments then they bought it for me and they signed the car over to me.

I did
age 19
put half down on a 2 year old car
paid it off in 3 years
I did my own car loan, car insurance, 401k, fafsa for school, EVERYTHING without ever asking my parents because honestly they did not know.

I bought my first car when I was 16. My stepdad co-signed a loan for me. It was $2300. I made the payments and insurance myself.

My first car was $2,000 lol it was so cute though! My parents gave me half of it in lieu of a sweet sixteen. When I was going to turn sixteen they said if you hold off a year and don't have a sweet sixteen party then we'll give you what we would have spent on that towards a car. Then, I saved and paid for the other $1,000 myself.
My first *NEW* car (about three years later) I saved up for a down payment b/c my first car was reeeeally old since I bought it used to begin with... and my parents co-signed on the loan with me. Then, I paid each monthly payment myself.  So, they didn't help $ wise on that one but they did sign on it along with me so I could get financing since I was so young and had NO credit history.
My current and third car DH and I got on our own completely... no co-signing!

My parents, and I had to pay back a portion of it. They paid the insurance. It was a 93 Cavalier
I purchased my first brand new car when I was 20 and I also paid that insurance for it. 03 Jetta that I still drive today.

I got my mom's Ford Taurus and she got a new car. Then that car sh!t the bed 2 years later and they bought me a Mazda Protege.

I chose other because my parents gave me their '94 Camry (in 2000) because I got a 1/2 scholarship to college.
ETA: I was on their insurance but paid my own portion.

My parents as a HS graduation/ commute to college gift. It was a 1980 Datsun 200 SX, 5 speed. Loved my car.
I paid my own gas, insurance and repairs though.

Well I got my dad's hand-me-down for a few years until it got hit and almost totaled....it was never the same again. My first NEW car, my parents helped me by giving me a downpayment as a graduation gift for college and grad school, and I have the loan. So a combo, really...

My parents matched the money I had saved from working, so we each paid half. It was a good incentive.
I'm not sure why but I told someone at school that my daddy bought me the car, so the rumor went around, even though I paid half. My daddy did find the car. We were both answering ads looking for a 1967 or 1968 Mustang in white or blue.
I loved that car and I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN HUGE TROUBLE IF THAT CAR COULD EVER TALK!!!!!!! I'm not sure anyone would have survived a bad accident in it but that never happened. I loved having a vintage Mustang!!!!

My parents put the down payment on a brand new car and I made the monthly payments. And alot of the times they would surprise me and make the payment for me.

My parents toyota corolla was due to be turned in from a lease, so my parents took out a loan and I made the payments on it till it was paid off.

I bought a brand new 2006 Honda Civic EX before starting law school... I put more than half down, and my parents "matched" the rest. It's paid off in full.
