me...'84 Grand Marquis when I was 16.
then I went and bought myself a '95 Jeep Wrangler at 17. It was in my dad's name, but down payment and all payments after came from me. I paid my own insurance and gas.

My first car was a hand-me-down. It was an '87 mustang and was first my sister's (she bought it for $800), then when it needed a new engine and tranny my parents put the work into it and she bought a new car, so my dad drove it for a few years.
Finally I got it in 1998. When I was done with it in 2000 we passed it onto my brother and when he was done with it my cousin took it for parts for his racing-mustang!
That car got around in our family!

I've never had my own car.. still don't!
Starting back in college I've always driven DH's car.
Now that we're married we still only have one car which he bought a couple of years ago.

It was me in a way. I saved all the money I got from my Sweet 16 (which wasn't a lot) and bought a 1986 VW Jetta. I basically ran it into the ground in one and a half years, but I got it in 2000.

My parents - for college graduation. It was a Toyota Paseo and I loved it!
In HS I drove a '78 a Chevy Impala. What a boat!

I got my car in 1999. A 1994 Honda civic. I used 6000.00 of my own money and my parents made up the difference. I am still driving this car.

When I was 16 my parents leased me an 84' Thunderbird b/c I was going away to college the next year and couldn't take the car with me (it was a special lease)

My parents paid for my first car. It was a used car but did the job for a few years. I was 18 years old.
They paid for insurance and gas too- which was so great of them!

Me. My parents could never have afforded to get all 6 of us cars, especially with insurance.
I didn't have a car until I was 23 and had already graduated grad school and had a full time job. Before that I rode my bicycle or borrowed my parents.

other - it was a hand-me-down from my Dad.
I didn't choose "parents" b/c even thought they did pay for it, they didn't buy it for me. my Dad was in the market for a new car anyway, so it just worked out for them to give it to me when I got my license.
if that option was not available for me, they would have split a car with me 50-50. which is what they did with my sister when she got her license.
