Whole Foods - What to buy??

So, I live by the new one. I have been there twice and have gotten too overwhelmed by the selection. At Stop & Shop I walk in and know exactly what I want and like.

Can anyone share their favorite things to buy there? I am a vegetarian, but my DH isn't. We also try to eat healthy.

Thanks - maybe next time I will have a better experience :)

Get all of the same stuff you would buy at Stop and Shop. Everyone buys the homemade peanut butter but I never get it because I am not a big fan of PB. There rocky road ice cream (360 brand) is amazing!

Re: Whole Foods - What to buy??

I mostly use whole foods for their pre-cut fruit packages and their premade foods like the egg salad and the like.

Some more mainstream products that are good there are:

Produce -- you can get some more rare items, and a lot that are organic that are sometimes hard to get in regular grocery stores
Bags of greens - such as spinach (same price or less than at the grocery store) and I love the bag of mustard greens -- I cook it with a shallot, a can of beans and some white whine and it's great.

Frozen foods, such as Amy's products, are in more abundance there, but their prices are high.

Lara bars or any sort of energy bars. If you buy an entire case at once, you get 10% off it! Sometimes they have coupons for them, too.

Cans / bottles of "juice soda" -- I don't like regular soda, but WF has great fruit spritzers and the like. I usually get whatever's on sale.

I like the milk at our local WF. They also have a great selection of greek yogurts if you enjoy that.

If you like cut and bake cookie dough, they have a brand that's supposed to have a lot fewer preservatives than the mainstream brands. The sugar cookies are fabulous!

I get all my chicken broth & chicken stock their. The 365 brand (WF brand) is very good, and priced competitively.

If you're ok with taking your rice home in a bag, the bulk items at WF are *great* -- you can get rice well-priced. I get my basmati, white, and arborio rice there and just refill my old containers. They also have dried fruit, oatmeal, trail mix, etc.

I like Annie's salad dressing. I wait for it to go on sale, though.

Their selection of cheese is wonderful. Also, if you're an olive bar person, WF is the place to go! I also love their salad bar / hot buffet. It's really pricey but the food is delicious!

HTH! I spend a lot of time at supermarkets and various grocery stores... so I kinda have my "pattern" of where I go for what.

They have great produce.

I love the guac.

They have this beer made only for them, my friends love it, and it's pretty cheap.

I agree about the meat... The chicken sausage is really good.

Pre-made- They have great salads... Love the tuna w/ dill & cranberries, and the roasted veggie sandwich.

I buy the raw almonds, they are a good price there.

The fish is fresh, but expensive. My husband loves the mahi mahi.

The fresh pasta is good. They have tons of cheese, and different types of chocolate.

Just check out their frozen veggies... Some of them are imported from China,
Chat Icon and other places as well.

I like the store. It's a great place to shop if you have food allergies.

Oh, I should add that the bakery's cookies and bread are great.
