Why do I feel like my 4.5 YO is the only child still ina car seat?!
DD is still in 5point harness carseat ( she is 4.5 yo and 40 lbs, tall for her age) but I see that most of DD's friends from school are already in booster seats, you know just the seat, not the back part , one that doesn't strap down and you just use a seatbelt to strap a child in.
I know from a fact that 6 of her "best friends" are in those booster seats. Now of course DD wants to start using a boost seat too, we have one, just haven't used it yet. I refuse to put her in it for a while longer. Anyone else still using a regular carseat for their 4+ yo?

my 6yr old niece is in a booster seat with a back, so don't feel bad, she is skinny and not too tall, so that may be why
you have to do what you feel is safest for your child

My 5 DD is still in a 5 point harness and my almost 8 DS is in a booster with a back.

don't feel bad about it. a 4 yo boy died here on long island yesterday and he only had a seatbelt on.

My friend just switched her 4y 9m DS to a high back booster. My DD was just over 5 when I switched her!!

until you feel safe keep it the way you are comfortable with. she'll be out of it soon enough.

My oldest will be 6 in a month and my 4.5 year old are both in 5 point harnesses. I don't care what any of their friends parents chose to do. I flat out told my daughter that the seat is made to save her life and she has never requested a booster even though she was the only kid in her kindergarten class still in one.

Well I only just changed DD#1 who is 5 to a back booster. She is big enough height and weight for the backless but I don't feel she is ready. I think she was the last of her friends. BTW I ONLY changed her because the straps around the the clips that buckle by the legs were starting to fray and I was concerned the straps were compromised. We just switched her this past week, if it wasn't for the straps I would have left her at least a few months longer.

yup my dd is still in one and I am not planning on changing that any time soon. she turned 4 in March but has always been very small for her age.

My 5 1/2 year old DS is still in a 5 point harness. Almost all of his classmates are in booster seats, but I feel more comfortable with him in the 5 point harness, and will keep him in as long as I can. Do what you feel comfortable with.

My 5 y/o DD is still in a 5-pt harness and she will remain that way until she outgrows it (probably within the next few months, unfortunately).

Our 6 year old DC recently went to a booster (Britax Frontier) 5 point harness after their Britax Marathon was approaching 6 years (expiring)

My 5.5 year old is in a high back booster with a 5 point harness. I just think it's the safest for her age and size. She only weighs 40 lbs; I don't think the bottom booster with just the regular seat belt is enough.

My almost 7 year old is still in his Britax Frontier and has no problem with it. He is regular height but pretty skinny and I feel it is safer fr him. Haven't decided what I am going to do once my almost 4 year old growns out of the decathlon.

My DD will be 5 in 3 weeks she is almost 4 feet 60 lbs and still sits in her car seat in the middle spot. Nourish to change it.

Ds is almost 4, still in his carseat. We are other getting the britax side impact or the recaro booster seat. Still looks like a carseat

My 6 1/2 year old DD is still in a 5 point harness. I might change her to a high back booster next year but have not decided yet.
Most of my DD's friends are in boosters, some in high back and some regular and some with none and that makes me nuts

My DS will be 6 in October and I just, literally a week ago, put him in a high back booster. I do keep just the seat one on hand in my trunk for play dates or grandparents cars, but that is few and far between.

I know, I see that around here so much too  Drives me crazy, I also really hate how some parents will put their kids in a car seat/ booster seat after they pick them up but don't strap them in , have seen that on more than one occasion and each time I want to scream at the parent, then I remember it's non of my business, not to be judgmental or anything (and I would never say anything to anyone unless it's close family or a best friend) but it just bothers me so much

As in they drive off unbuckled or the child buckles themselves?  Very scary if they drive off unbuckled.

My DD is still in her Marathon! She is very petite....28lbs. and only the 20th percentile for height. She's fine with it and I'm happy with it too.
I'm amazed at how many parents let their children just sit in a seat with a belt b/c "it's just a quick ride home from preschool/dance". OMG!!!!!

DS was in his 5 point harness seat until his 6th b-day. DD turned 6 last month, and she'll be in her car seat for a while still (she's much tinier than her brother was).
In the car, DS has just the backless booster seat now.
In my truck, they both have to be in boosters with backs (DD is still in the car seat in my truck) because there is no headrest in the backseat, so DS's head would be right in front of the back window. Definitely not safe that way, but with the booster's back, he's fine.
