Why does it take forever to get my 8 week old down for sleep?
Alright, I know she is exhausted, even over-tired. Is that why it can take 2 hours to get her to sleep??!! My DH and I take shifts in her room---rocking her, swaying her, shushing her, etc. It's making us nuts! H.E.L.P.

yikes...i wish i could offer advice! newborns are SO tough-well, not everyone thinks that but i do. you just don't know what they really want or what is really bothering them. and at 8 weeks it's still hard to tell. all i know is that my DD really liked the miracle blanket. she liked to be tight and swaddled. you are a btdt mom though and have probably already tried swaddling though. have you tried also not swinging or rocking her and just putting her down? only asking b/c i would do this w/ DD and she would squirm while i rocked her etc...then i realized she was on of the rare babies that hated to be rocked. i assume you have a bedtime routine in place too that signals bedtime? have you tried white noise? that also worked for my DD...i'm sorry! i have very little advice and know that in a few weeks i will be in the same boat trying to figure out my new baby! good luck!

I would try swaddling - or soft music. Also, try starting a routine - bottle, then diaper change (in a dim room) - turn the music on first, then swaddle and crib. Start the process before DC is tired.
HTH - if not, hope its a phase.

It could be that your LO is overtired. When DS is overtired, it's harder for him to sleep. At 8 weeks, DS was still sleeping in my arms in a chair. He hated being swaddled and only wanted to sleep on his stomach.
Try using music, a sleep sheep, or a white noise machine to help. Also, make sure you start the sleep routine as soon as your LO shows signs of being tired.
