Why is my 6 month old not STTN? Any tips?
Does anyone have any tips that I can try??
He goes to bed @ 7:30. Last night before I went to bed @ 11 pm I have him a 6 oz bottle in the hope that he would not wake up in the middle of the night.
@ 3 am he stirred, I gave his binky and turned on his noise machine and he fell back asleep.
@ 5 am he woke for a bottle. I fed him and he slept until about 7:30 am.
Is there a way to get him to STTN?? I would try making him go to bed later but he is so tired he becomes very cranky around 7:15-7:30 some night a little later.
He sometimes STTN but lately he has not been.
Any BTDT help is appreciated

Is it the 3AM or 5AM waking that you're looking to eliminate? Did you give him a chance to go back to sleep at 3AM? Will he not put his own pacifier in?
My DD is having a lot of sleep issues lately too. She turned 6 months on 3/26. Is this a new thing? or has he never consistently slept through the night?

is he teething? My DD is 6 /2 months and my husband and I wake up many times throughout the night to put the pacifier in her mouth. We think she is teething. I give my DD her last bottle before bed and she goes to sleep at 7:30.

I'm no help. Dsdidnt STTN until 9 months. You either have to let him CIO ( which we didn't), or just ride it out. I'm sorry! It's so hard!

1- i would try keeping the noise machine on all night. Sounds like from your post that it turns off during the night.
2- did you try just giving him the pacifier at 5am?
I definitely don't think you need a later bedtime.
My son is almost 3 months old... bed 7pm fusses at 2:30, give pacifier and he goes back to sleep. wakes 3:30am for a feeding sleeps until 6:30am
what formula is he on? or are you bfing?

Re: Why is my 6 month old not STTN? Any tips?
Unfortunately he is probably waking out of habit and he really isn't hungry.
At the age my kids were sleeping 7ish to 7 ish. But DS was doing something similar right around that age. We did CIO. First night 10 min, second night 5 min. Now if he wakes up I know it is for a reason (ie he has wet through his clothes).
The binky throws a little wrench in it though. DS wouldn't take a binky so your DS is probably waking and needs it. Not sure what you do for that though sorry
good luck

I'm laughing bc I can post why is my 2.5 year old not sleeping through the night?
At 6 months you could probably CIO, I know a lot of people who did. Also, if the pacifier is waking him, maybe try eliminating that? Good Luck!!

Re: Why is my 6 month old not STTN? Any tips?
thanks girls. He STTN in his rock n play and a few times in his crib but usually he wakes and I can usually just give him his binky and play his noise machine. I will try keeping a mouse machine on all night and see if that helps.
I think he is teething. I am not ready for cry it out yet...I feel like 6 months is too young for that...

Re: Why is my 6 month old not STTN? Any tips?
My 6 month old twins are having trouble lately sleeping through the night, due to teething. Hopefully he is just teething and it will pass or maybe you need to up his formula/food intake during the day. My DS is eating 7 oz. every 3-4 hrs. but my DD is only eating 5-6oz every 4 hrs. I know every baby is different, but you should try it.
