Re: Why purchase a "fake" bag....

Can someone please explain to me why my reply keeps getting deleted yet this other chick gets to keep her "pertentious" post up?!
Nevermind, I see hers was deleted too...
Still don't know why though...
I guess I'm the "pertentious (sp)" chick poster?
I didn't even bother to recheck this thread until someone informed me it got really nasty toward me...which I don't understand. I'm allowed to have an opinion, no? I stated how I was joking about the "fake boob" comparison...I was typing fast, dealing with a crying baby and didn't get to clarify my comparison which wasn't even much of anything, it was a joke more than anything.
And I know I wrote something about people being pretentious to really take the time to see if someones bag was fake or not...what is wrong with that statement?? I still stand by it, I don't know...I can't wrap MY head around people caring that much that's all. I would hate to know someone was looking at my mother or friend and thinking how it's funny, or cheap, or stupid (whatever word you want to use) that they purchased a fake bag.
That is ALL. To each their own, I did not know my post made that much of an impact. These things don't matter much to me I guess. I apologize to anyone I offended.
If my thread hadn't been removed you would have seen why I was "offended" in a sense. You basically stated that LI has it's fair share of pertentious people who care to take the time to check for fake bags then post about it here.. "how stupid" were your exact words I believe. My reply basically was telling you that I don't do all the things you assumed, I just asked a question. I didn't say there was anything wrong with carrying a fake bag, I just wondered why people did so.. that was all. I thought it was innocent enough until you replied with what i thought was a nasty comment.
To each his own, you are entitled to your opinion about fake bags and real bags, I didn't think it was necessary to call the original poster (myself) pertentious and "stupid".
nuff said.
But Long Island DOES have a large share of people, notably women who would take the time to analyze bags...and it DOES give off an obnoxious pretense. You yourself started the post with "I'm sorry if i offend anyone"...That to me is starting off something you KNOW will hurt feelings or potentially offend.
I am not calling YOU stupid. I don't even think that is what I wrote, because never in my life have I written to someone or even a large group of people that they are stupid. I think certain mentalities are dumb...when there are such bigger things in the world than real vs fake bags. That is my opinion, and honestly I don't think you or anyone else are stupid.
Do I own fake bags? NO. My husband has bought me several nice bags because he likes to get them for me, but I guess I just never really stopped and thought about others who buy fake.
I understand where you are coming from, I apologize again for offending. I did not mean to personally attack YOU (was not my intent, I swear). I have opinions and I wanted to answer and state how I felt.

I also ended that paragraph with "I'm just trying to understand..." meaning I don't care either way...
It's over... whatever..

Re: Why purchase a "fake" bag....
I kinda hate the fact there are so many fakes out there. It becomes so easy to obtain a fake lv or fake chloe I dont even want to to buy a real one. Why would I want to look like everyone else sporting the same bag regardless if mine was real
I assume people buy fakes because they cant afford the real ones just to go along with the trends.

honestly- that couldn't be further from the truth
it's not just a bag....
It’s estimated that more than $500 billion worth of counterfeit goods are sold annually. Profits from these counterfeit sales fund organized crime including drug cartels, child labor, and even terrorist organizations. “Fakes Are Never In Fashion” is your source to learn about this global crisis, find tips on how to avoid buying a fake, and learn what you can do to help spread the message that fakes are never in fashion.

Buy US products only.....

Re: Why purchase a "fake" bag....
I am in manfucaturing- we have standards
every major retailer has standards that must be followed - At Macy's we even had a standard for the number of lights that had to be in the factory- this is taken VERY seriously today
factories are inspected- they must pass- or good don't ship - and they don't get paid-
the guy selling bags on the corner - he is one with no standards
and last time I checked- Gucci, Marc Jacobs, LV etc were all made in italy- not china
ETA- it's not just labor standards- if that's all you got out of my post- you missed the point

I am sorry your Dad lost his job

not to mention that it's stealing someone elses idea

italy or France- my point is they are NOT made in china
my point is fake bags are not harmless
the person selling them is committing a crime, the person making them is committing multiple crimes (factory owner)
and what is the money going towards (more crime, terrorism etc)?
these are all important issues that people don't think about

I am guilty of going and buying fake bags at parties. I haven't been to one in a very long time but I find it very surprising that so many women on here say they would never buy a fake but the woman who was running the party told us that she had to hire 6 more women to help her out as she was busy. She said at one party there were at least 100 women and they had to stand in line to see and buy the bags.
