I would love to. DH plays the bass and my FIL plays the guitar, so hopefully they'll teach DS to play.

I have to say, I'm a little taken back by the amount of people who will limit their child's choice of instrument and will only encourage music lessons if their child is interested. I would encourage all of you to do some research on the benefits of studying music from an early age. Also, music should be an integral part of all childrens' lives. As they get older, not only is it a wonderful experience to play an instrument, but it requires them to use math skills, foreign language skills, fine motor skills, and provides insight into world history, connects to the English language, as writing music and reading songs is very similar to the written word. I'm not trying to be preachy, but as a musician, I can tell you that music really helps make a person well-rounded on so many different levels. Anyway, that's my soap box moment for the day.

I think piano in a few years. I always wanted to learn when I was a kid but my parents couldn't afford one, so now I can live vicariously through my kids.
Ditto. I would also like my DD to take up the flute. I played from the age of 5 until I was in HS, and I still have it and would love to see it used again!

My dd started an instrument in 4th grade and saw no need to start her any earlier. She is excellent and has been chosen for select orchestra this year.
