Re: Will you paint Easter eggs with your toddler?
I didn't find it too messy last year or the year before (DD is almost 4). We're definitely doing it again this year.

Re: Will you paint Easter eggs with your toddler?
My DD loves it! Get a disposable cake pan and put the cups with the dye in them in the pan. Then if it spills it's not big deal. DD may get some dye on her hands but it doesn't take too long to come off.

Re: Will you paint Easter eggs with your toddler?
DS requires A LOT of assistance, but we will be doing it again. We just line everything so when we're done, I can just throw it out and now have to scrub too much.

Re: Will you paint Easter eggs with your toddler?
I did it last year when DD was 2 and it was not messy at all. Covered the table with paper bags. She picked the colors and I put them in and took them our when she wanted me too. This year I am trying dying using a wisk (I heard you can put the egg in it and the kids can do it themselves) Luckily the hubby will be home this year so he can care for my 7 month old while coloring eggs!

Re: Will you paint Easter eggs with your toddler?
You can let the little ones paint the eggs with regular washable paints and a paint brush, if you are worried about the mess. IMO it is part of being a kid, you have to do it!

Re: Will you paint Easter eggs with your toddler?
Hijacking the post here.. In addition to dying the eggs what are you doing to decorate them? DS would get a kick out of it but I'm not sure what to use. He's 16 months so whatever we use it would be more for his enjoyment than actually 'decorating' the eggs.

Re: Will you paint Easter eggs with your toddler?
Carlie is 17 months and I plan on doing it... I will let her color them with the crayons, I will dip them and then when they dry, she can decorate them with stickers...
This is what I planned on at least.

Re: Will you paint Easter eggs with your toddler?
We just did them with my sons (2 & 1)...of course they are still so young and it was a disaster but they had fun doing it. I'd do it again...it kept them busy.

Re: Will you paint Easter eggs with your toddler?
We used the old fashioned dye last year when DS was 2. I bought the kit again for this year, but also saw some really cute decorating ideas in a magazine. Instead of paint or dye, you could glue on buttons, felt pieces of bunnies and chicks, yarn, etc. It might be a less messy option. We might do a little bit of both.

That being said...DH and I hate hard boiled eggs...so I'm only going to do a couple because no one is going to eat them!

Re: Will you paint Easter eggs with your toddler?
DS is 3 as well and this will be the 3rd year he colors eggs! I havent found it to be too messy in years past.
I put an old table cloth on the table, a big t-shirt on him and he is pretty good!
