Wisdom tooth coming in
Hi ladies,
I know lots of questions about dental work have been asked before but I wanted more feedback. My top right wisdom tooth is starting to come in...well it has been trying to come in since before I got preggo. However, I never did anything with it because it never bothered me. I am more aware of it now I guess because pregnancy causes your gums to be swollen and sensitive etc. I am not in pain but I am just feeling that it is trying to push thru with no room and I am aware of the tooth. I am 28 weeks and so nervous to have any dental procedure and just want to stick it out. However, I know I have to be careful about infection. I have been really concentrating on this area when I brush and have been using listerine line its my job. I called the dentist today and they told me to contact my obgyn about what is permitted by my practice. When I called my ob they said that have a strict policy and have a letter written up on dental procedures that they send directly to my dentist about what they allow and not allow etc. My question is, is it possible for a dentist to just take a look with no xray and tell me if it is infected or not? He already knows it needs to be removed. I know I WILL NOT have it removed until I give birth but if there are ways to keep it from getting infected I would like to obviously do that. Are there antibiotics we can take? Also, has anyone dealt with a wisdom tooth during pregnancy? Do wisdom teeth normally get infected if you leave them in? UGh please help!
