Wisdom tooth pain
Anyone experience this?
Mine really never grew in. My upper and lower right side is killing me. I guess it's due to the hormones. The gums around the area is all swollen and inflammed.
I do not think it will be safe to have them extracted during pregnancy right? What the heck am I going to do if this pain doesn't go away or if it gets worse?

Re: Wisdom tooth pain
See a dentist! You may have pericoronitis - a gum inflammation in the area of the wisdom teeth. Rare to have it on both the upper and lower jaw, though. Nevertheless, it's better to check it out now before it gets worse. They may or may not put you on an antibiotic.
You can see a dentist during pregnancy - they may need to take xrays (just have them double shield you) and you can have anesthetic.

Def. see someone just to be safe, if nothing else. It is always good to get things checked out. Or call your ob and ask his/her opinion! Good luck!

Re: Wisdom tooth pain
I had a wisdom tooth extracted when I was 26 weeks. It was such a relief to have out! I hadn't been able to eat sweets on my right side for a month.
I could have X-rays and novocaine, according to my OB and my oral surgeon. Novocaine was all I needed during the extraction - it was a simple tooth pull (they didn't need to open my gum or give me stitches or anything). I didn't even need Tylenol afterwards.
You should go in for a dental appointment anyway - pregnant women have notoriously bad teeth as the baby sometimes steals your calcium. They usually want you to get any work done in your second trimester. Good luck and feel better!

Re: Wisdom tooth pain
I had it for a day or so. Mine are impacted and my dentist won't take them out unless they're painful (pre-preg). I definitely think its due to the hormones, I generally get some tenderness right before my period. When I had it the other day I was afraid it would stick around with e pregnancy but it's passed for now. They just get sore, not really painful. GL!
