We are pretty safe. I work in clinical research and DH works in a specialized field in the healthcare industry.

I do worry about family members though. I'm praying for them and everyone else in danger.

There has already been quite a few layoffs at my job so yes i am i had to watch some of my best friends and coworkers walk out the door it is not the same now

i am a nyc teacher so i feel i am safe but dh owns his own business and things have already been slow but so far they are okay but i do worry about things for him

I was laid off from a previous job after 9/11, so I've been there and it succks!

My family has our own retail store, and I do worry about how this will affect the future. This could very well hurt us in a trickle down manner ... as people have less money, or lose their jobs, they have less money to spend.

yes, I work in financial industry and I am concerned bc it's so hard to find a job now

Yes. Even though my boss is one of the people that keep the firm humming you never know.

I work for a big investment bank.

I don't worry about my 401k, I worry about my job.

DH and I are lucky enough that we have great jobs so we're not worried

I work in finance and was laid off from my company in December. I was there for 12 years anf thought I would have been there forever.

I got a new job after 2 months. I have been here since Feb. but I am still scared. Please God don't let that happen to me again!

I'm in finance and terrified. I have friends out of work since September. My husband has his own business, a beer beverage store and when he bought it the guy said people drink in good times and bad. Let me tell you.................

I now work for my DH but we are very worried about his small business.

We are afraid that construction will halt and if that happens, there goes most of DH's business.

We have already talked about what we would do if that happened Thank goodness he has a lot of friends in the field and has a great education otherwise I would be a lot more nervous.

I am secure in my job & actually we are booming more then I have seen in the 10+ years I am here. We are a military aircraft component manfacturer.

DH is in the food industry & even though the economy can have an effect on that, he will be just fine!

I work in private healthcare & I'm the highest paid person my my position in my company so I'm slightly worried. I'm starting a business that should benefit from tough times, hopefully I'll keep my job & work my business.

My DH's business is really dependent on finance and big wall street bonuses & international wealth. He has 4 or 5 deals on the table that have stalled since all of this started. They are busy now but still need to sell new jobs. I'm very worried for him.
In general I'm sleeping about as much as I did after 9/11, a few hours a night. My brain is too filled with all of this stuff to rest.

I'm not worried just yet but this could definitely affect my job. I work in the real estate department of my firm so we're definitely affected by this. We've already had deals die because of what's going on. I just hope that the people I work for directly can still make money. As long as they have a job, I have a job.

I think we're ok. I work in Early Intervention w/ a public health corp. contracted by the City of Phila. As any one who has kids knows, with the turnover rate, social service agencies run understaffed almost 100% of the time so layoffs would make the E.I. system essentially collapse.

DH i'm not so sure about. He's a Navy shipbuilder by trade but took a different position at a smaller shop so he wouldn't have to travel. If the economy lessens the orders for what they make he could be gone

Not me, but DH works for a hedge fund so he could lose his job. Right now their investors are sticking with them but you never know, a bunch of them could get anxious and pull their money and then the fund would close.

No, I know we have projects coming up. However, things can always change - so of course its in the back of my mind, but its not something I am really worried about.

YES I work in financial services and this is getting ugly. I am very afraid as my dh is also in this industry.

The firm I'm at is still making money hand over fist, so I'm not too worried at this point......

I'm a SAHM now, but I wanted to go back to work in a few months, and I am worried about finding a job. Tax revenues fund my area of work, so hiring freezes are common when the economy is bad.

I work for the family business, we've been doing very well lately as there seems to be no decline in contruction and renovations on long island (we are an electrical contractor) so, I don't see any major problems in the forseeable future.

Hopefully, things stay this way.

DH is currently a Local 25 Electrician, employed by our company. There is a chance, if work declines, that he could be benched, but like I said, we are quite busy at the moment. Regardless, he is planning a career change to FDNY in the near future (he'll be in January or July's academy)

I'm a teacher- but I teach music. One of the first things to get cut in the schools when the budget fails. My district is very high on music though....so I'm probably safe, but you never know. My district is also fairly wealthy...yet I'm sure many families work in the investment sector. It's a scary time.

I worry about DH...he works accounting for a major clothing retailer. He tells me his job is safe.
