Not really, I work for a college and the enrollment for this term was the highest it's ever been. But, we rely a lot on grant money so you really never know where they will cut back.

Re: With the economy today, are you nervous about possibly losing your job??
I am fairly secure in the fact that I don't think I will lose my job UNLESS I do something completely screwed up or the business goes under. However - with the economy being what it is and the fact that the business I work for is in the financial sector - nothing is certain.
My husband has been laid off since June - and honestly with the economy being what it is - I can't see him getting back to work in the near future. At least not as a Union Electrician.
But I can't waste time worrying about what might be. Gotta just continue with what IS.

No I'm not worried. With Dh there is a bigger chance because he is in sales, but still I am not worried. If it happens, it happens, We have savings and are prepared just incase.

I think I am safe, but you never know. I work for an insurance company and know people who work for AIG. I would be unable to sleep at night if I worked for them. Ugh.
This is so scary!!!

I work for the government, so I am not too worried, but my DH works in finance. He said he should be okay and is not worried based on the specific type of work he does, but who knows.

I work for the government so I will never be rich, but my job is secure. Praying for all of those who are worried about their jobs
same here. the last time anyone at my job was laid off because of the economy was 1992 and the county (nassau) is doing everything they can to prevent that from ever happening again.

Re: With the economy today, are you nervous about possibly losing your job??
My DH has survived two layoff from a major European car manufacturer. The most recent cut was last week. The company is not doing bad (only down 2%) the exchange rate is the problem. I'm not losing sleep because his education is very specialized and he would get a job the next day. Plus we don't have a mortgage.
I'm a SAHM but work as subcontractor for the government. My job is safe unfortunately due to the war in Iraq.

DH is fine, he is a police officer with seniority... Me on the other hand, I work in Hospital Finance and our income is way down this year. I am worried because I am relatively new here so I would be one of the first to go.

My particular job is very popular in England (at least that is what it looked like when searching.) Maybe I should relocate???

Re: With the economy today, are you nervous about possibly losing your job??
I don't believe my job is in jeopardy. Our CEO had a meeting last week, and he said that we should not worry.
With that being said- my company is very dependent on the economy (we are a wine distributing company). However, with yesterday as bad as it was, we had a HUGE day- the biggest one in history. So go figure.

I'm not concerned about my job, however, my husband owns his own contracting business, which is directly effected by the market so I'm VERY concerned about his business.

I am nervous. DH starts a new job next month but we've saved and will continue to be even more conservative.
That plus hope and pray.

I work for AIG and I sleep very well at night LOL...I'm not worried at all actually, I'm in legal so I'll be here until the end of times, BUT other business units do have a lot to worry about. I look at things as change, and sometimes change is good and necessary.
I guess I am talking from a claims department perspective, which is what I do. I have recently seen AutoOne Insurance lay off their entire Melville claims department (hundreds of people) and base everyone out of upstate NY because it is more cost effective, and this before the economy took a turn for the worse.

I work for the state - and with the current economic circumstances that the State is experiencing with multi-mllion dollar cuts, no one is safe from lay offs. We're already at a hiring freeze.
