Wood floor
We have red oak hardwood floors (original to house from 1950) demoed the kitchen and when we took up linoleum, there was wood under hallway but stopped at kitchen (of course)
The kitchen is now open to living room. A few floor quotes later, one guy said sometimes people will run the hardwood the opposite way for the kitchen to help break up rooms and it’s cheaper than weaving wood into existing living room.
Opinions? Anyone have experience with this? I always planned on just weaving it in and having the wood flow all together from room to room.

Re: Wood floor
2 bedrooms on the 2nd floor and 2 bedrooms in the 3rd floor had carpet with no floor underneath. We refinished the wood floors in the hallways and the other bedrooms and the guy just installed similar wood in those bedrooms and stained it to match perfectly. You can’t tell the difference

Re: Wood floor
We have a split with an extension off the back of the kitchen and dining room wall. The way the house is now, as you walk through from the front door you go: Door, hallway (with living room on the left), through the kitchen,, dining room on the left, and to the extension which is where we have the kitchen table.
The floor is all wood in the same direction except for the working part Of the kitchen - that small part is tile
