Work and altering Schedule?

Has anyone had an illness and had to talk to their job about altering their schedule for a medical reason?

What types of schedule arrangements did you were you able to negotiate. I was thinking working 6 hours per day 5 days a week would go over better than a 4 day work week and 1 day telecommuting for my situation.

Someone I know was able to do half her hours in the office and half her hours working from home plus one full day working from home.

After DH's accident they allowed me to work till 2 so I could take an early train into the city to be with him for 1/2 a day. Once he moved out to LI (abt 5 weeks later) they allowed me to work through my lunch and leave at 4.

At the time I worked in a small office (5 people) and I think that helped a lot.

I'm sorry for whatever you're going through right nowChat Icon

ETS: Good luck I hope they can work something out with you.

If your company is required to follow FMLA guidelines & you meet the criteria you can take those 12 weeks in days as you need them.

I have the FMLA now. So far only took 4 days for the year. I have lupus with APS but I'm having some complications and the doc wants me to limit work. Just trying to find a way to meet both my health and work obligations.
