Working Moms - Need Advice
Don't say anything until after. I didn't tell my job until I was 22 weeks. The higher ups didn't know until after that, probably closer to 30 weeks. I don't think there is any legal requirement to tell them at any point.

I wouldn't say anything yet. It could be hard to prove, but if you didn't get the raise, you'd always wonder whether it had to do with your pregnancy.
I'm amazed by how long PPs have waited to share the news. I wouldn't mind holding off and I've definitely worked with men who were clueless about those kinds of things before. However, I show pretty early. I don't even think I could hide it at 16 weeks. I'm pretty round by then.

I would wait bc if you didn't get the raise, you would always wonder in the back of your mind if the reason was because your pregnant (but of course you'd never really know).
I think the anatomy scan at 20 weeks is perfect to tell. I also had a miscarriage before my twins so I'm coming from a different perspective. With them I had to tell when I was about 14 weeks because I was showing and I needed to take off for several doctor appointments. With my 3rd, I was so paranoid (for no reason at all-I felt great my entire pregnancy), I told after we got the all clear from my 20 week anatomy scan (even though I was clearly showing so I'm sure it was obvious).

Re: Working Moms - Need Advice
This may sound sexist, but I think for a male boss... they appreciate upfront honesty relatively more than a female.
I've heard men also rant horrifically about pulling for a woman and then thinking she was "hiding" something.
I've seen women both take advantage and get screwed over. I'd have to say the one who took the most advantage (including hiding a pregnancy and manipulation of vacation time) Had her position change. The ones who get screwed over usually bounce back after a bit (still get promoted but a bit later).
It depends on your position, of course, if this raise and promotions are once in a blue moon... get it. But if you depend on the boss for more (hours, flexibility, etc)... I'd be upfront.
I also totally show at 16 weeks. Have no clue how anyone could not tell at 30. Maybe not tell the higher administration if you never see them, but realistically, if you are not immediately replaceable, what happens if you go into early labor or have complications?
