Re: Would u buy/ lease a Toyota now?

Considering there are newer reports that it *may* be a computer rather than mechanical problem I'd say,"no".

We are currently in the market for a minivan and the Toyota had been my first choice.

But now that the true issue *may* not have been fixed, there is NO way.

I just wouldn't feel safe- especially if they stopped making cars, then wouldn't the ones available be the ones recalled??

My DH and I have Hondas- I have a CRV and he has a Pilot and we love them!

Without hesitation. Every manufacturer has issues at some point.

yes every manufacturer has issues. I don't believe one car is made better than the other.

I believe Toyota had issues all the time but it was kept under the rug due to politics. I felt that they advertise other car manufacturers more with their defects and recalls.

Ford is actually doing really well. I think Toyota is trying to salvage any reputation they can b/c of all the commercials and new car lease deals they have been having.

I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla and let me tell you what a PAIN IN THE A$$ THESE RECALLS HAVE BEEN!!

P.S. I had a '91 Toyota corolla and it died so I had to get a new car and my husband and I were SO SUPER excited to get a new one.

Since the DAY we got this car its been nothing but issues. We got it in July and two weeks later they e-mailed me a letter and brake recall. Then last month wiith the acceleration recall. Its ridiculous!!Chat Icon Also they *SAY* they fixed the brake issue but I swear there is still something wrong. Sometimes I will step in the brakes and literally THE CAR KEEPS GOING. I brought it BACK IN TO THE DEALER and they said "oh no, the car is fine". I feel like they were brushing me off. I am having this baby in 5 months and I am scared to death to put my baby in there.Chat Icon

This is the story I heard on the news over the weekend. I think it was on fox & friends. A man said exactly what you are saying. I would call corporate in CA to complain you feel there is still an issue.

We are seriously upset and are thinking of the next steps to take. We have considered selling it but unfortunately it has already lost its resale value.

To the OP... right now a toyota is not a good investment (IMO). The resale value is not gonna be where its supposed to be for a toyota and even @ $200 a month, its not worth the constant questioning you may go through like we are.

Goodluck w/ your decisionChat Icon

Re: Would u buy/ lease a Toyota now?

No way no how. We unexpectedley had to buy a new car a couple of weeks ago and Toyota was completely off our list. It's not so much the recalls but how they handled all of this and denied these claims for so long. I think I read once some guy has been in jail for 8 years because of vehicular manslaughter due to a Toyota malfunction.

We ended up getting a Nisaan cube and we love it! I would check it out. It's pretty roomy inside and has more of an SUV feel although it's not considered an SUV.

Good luck with your new purchase Chat Icon

ETA: You can find plenty of leases for less than $200 per month. Don't forget to negotiate!!

Re: Would u buy/ lease a Toyota now?

nope. never really liked them before but definitely wouldn't touch them now with these problems.

i've had fords and mazdas and both are great. i think you could probably get some great deals from the other manufacturers right now too. definitely shop around.
