Re: Would you be ok with this?
Thank you for the responses. DD is just shy of 6 WEEKS old and ILs think they are going to take her to Disney by themselves for the first time when she's old enough to go. DH and I need to sit them down this weekend and have a conversation about it because we are not ok with it. We're fine with them coming with us, but we do not want to miss her face when she sees Disney for that first time.

NO. Absolutely not. This is also a huge, huge issue with my parents. My mom's parents took me, my 2 sisters, and my 2 cousins to Disney alone when we each turned 5. It was a great experience but my parents AGREED to it. And now they want to continue the tradition but I am NOT okay with it. I've told them so and they argue with me, like that's going to change my mind. I've told them that they are welcome to join us on our first trip and they b!tch at me like I am stealing something from them.
I feel your pain. These grandparents are off their rockers!

Re: Would you be ok with this?
Nope, absolutely would not be ok with that for many reasons. But even if I lived in Orlando, I still wouldn't be ok with them taking her for the first time. That's a "special" thing, to me.

Re: Would you be ok with this?
NO my girls are 2 1/2 and I would not be ok with this. If they were older, maybe 8 or 9 I wouldn't have a problem with it. Disney is a big park and I would be too scared they would get lost.

Re: Would you be ok with this?
I wouldn't care about the "Disney experience" part- I just would be too nervous for them to take DS alone on a big trip like that. If he was older though- maybe like 8- I would say sure.

Re: Would you be ok with this?
But I also want to add (after reading your reply) that we took my two DDs to Disney for the first time WITH my ILs. We all had such a great time! My FIL even cried...CRIED I tell you...watching my DDs in their costumes meeting the princesses at the princess breakfast. I think he was also watching MIL who dreamed of little girls, having had three sons and five grandsons before my DD was born. We even got two nights of babysitting out of it!
I would definitely do it in this situation.

Re: Would you be ok with this?
No way! I do agree that you might want to invite them along for the 1st trip. We had my mom and sister and DH's parents go for DD's first trip. It made the trip even more special.

I'm pretty laid back and not even a very big disney person, but for some reason I really want to surprise my little one when they are 5 or 6 with a trip to disney. I think it's the commercials, haha. So no, I wouldn't be ok with it.
LOL - I have similar views!
I actually LOATHE Disney and would be very happy to never go there, but my older son LOVES Mickey Mouse - probably my fault for letting him watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (another story!). But, DH and I love the idea of surprising them like the commercials!

Re: Would you be ok with this?
No - the whole fun of the trip is watching my girls eyes light up, watching them hugging and kissing the characters, dancing, singing and clapping on rides etc. I wouldn't want to miss a minute of that.
