Would you buy a floor sample crib?
I just got a call that the one I ordered in discontinued.
When I was at Behr's the other day they had some floor samples for sale that were really cheap.
Do you think they are safe?

I would think so. I probably would if it looked okay.

No, because of not really knowing how long it has been there, how much wear and tear it has already been through and if the safety of it is somehow compromised.

Re: Would you buy a floor sample crib?
I did. They had to take it apart to bring it to my house. I cleaned it, piece by piece when they brought it into the house and then again when we put it together.
It was fine...

Re: Would you buy a floor sample crib?
I personally wouldn't... the cirb we were originally going to get got discontinued, then I ended up finding something I liked better... Keep looking.

Re: Would you buy a floor sample crib?
The floor sample was definitely put together perfectly by professionals and other than people admiring it and putting hands on it, it has never been used. The sanitary thing wouldn't bother me at all. They dust and clean the furniture in stores more often than any of us do at home. If it's a great deal, I say go for it! What a great opportunity!

Re: Would you buy a floor sample crib?
I did and saved a TON of money. I purchased my entire set as a floor sample from Belini. It was in fantastic condition and was one that was made in Canada before they started making stuff in China. I obviously cleaned the whole set very well when we got it home. That being said, I have seen many floor sample cribs I would never buy because they look and operate like floor samples. If it is in great condition go for it. If it seems off, I wouldn't chance it.

NO! I would be too scared. I feel they are very abused already by the customers trying to shake them.

Re: Would you buy a floor sample crib?
I would, as long as the integrity hasn't been compromised. I'd thoroughly inspect it, looking for small cracks or stripped holes, etc.

Re: Would you buy a floor sample crib?
We bought our whole Munire set as a floor sample because we waited entirely too long to order it. The boutique we got it from offered the sample at a great discount and then used our new set as the new sample (mom and pop shop with great customer service). It was in pristine condition and had all the instructions and everything so DH was able to make sure it was properly put together.
There are other sets I have seen being sold as samples in some of the big box stores that look like they've been through the ringer (majorly dinged, scratched, poorly assembled,etc)- these I probably wouldn't buy.
How frustrating after you finally decided!

Re: Would you buy a floor sample crib?
To have the crib I wanted...I would. Especially with Behr's..if you would trust them to put it together with home delivery for a new crib why not with a floor sample, right?
I washed the entire crib when it arrived and came straight from the box wrapped and all...this is no different. Wash it down and you are set. Just make sure you can get the manual and such for it.

Re: Would you buy a floor sample crib?
we did. There was a canadian line of furniture much more expensive than what I could justify (Morigeau Lepine) whose stuff I was in love with. I heard on LIF about a children's store that was going out of business so we went and I was able to get one of their cribs for 1/2 what it should have been. we disassembled it and re-assembled it so I don't see why it would've been any less safe than a new crib, kwim?

Re: Would you buy a floor sample crib?
I bought a floor sample changing table at BRU. We cleaned it of course before using it. But as far as a crib, I think it could be cleaned but I would be wary of who / how it was put together.
