I'd get the mother's helper. Even though getting up in the middle of the night stinks, I would rather have someone help during the day so they could help with the older kids or the newborn as I needed. Plus, if things work out, you may want to keep her for the future with 3 little ones.

I am due with #2 in about 9 weeks and I have to keep my nanny employed when I go on maternity leave. So she is going to be here 3 full days a week. The idea of having someone here while I am here seems like a lot, but I keep thinking of all of the benefits - I can nap when she is here, I can take my older son on playdates while she watches the newborn, she can take my older son to the park and I can stay with the newborn, etc.

No.

For me also, having a stranger in my home, would be akward for me too.

In the end, I feel like I had to do it from DAY one on my own and know what I was in for.

You know I had twins, I had NO help.
Had a c-section too.

My mom was around on the weekend I bought home the babies, to help, that was it.

It kept me on my toes big time and really helped me adjust to what my lifestyle was going to be.

Esp with going back to work F/T. I had to know what it was like to get three kids out of the house in a timely manner.

I wouldnt allow them to hold me back from anything either so It was good to really see how it would all work out.

I think you will be ok without one Di.

Seriously.

You go with the flow and the advantage you have is that you will have one newborn opposed to two, like me and I totally managed.
