would you take an antibiotic?
I have a zpak from a month that I never used. last night I had a terrible sore throat, and sick feeling, swollen gland on my left side only and my tonsil on my left is red, swollen and maybe pus. I Rather not go to the dr if they are just going to give me an antibiotic anyway since I have a pack. Would you take it?
since last night the sore throat hasnt really improved.

Sore throats are almost always caused by a virus, not bacteria*, so antibiotics won't work.
(*unless it's strep throat, which would most likely be accompanied by fever.)
In either case, I'd probably just hang on for a few days and let it run its course.

ITA! Also, different antibiotics are needed for different (bacterial) infections. So what you have laying around at home might not be appropriate for the infection you have now (if its bacterial).

I had been to the Dr. recently with swollen glands and they weren't positive if it was viral or bacterial but she prescribed the z-pak for me.
