UPDATE: So I wrote, what I thought to be a simple letter stating my concerns and requesting a meeting or phone call from this new regional director. You know what I got - a call back from the site director (who I am friendly with.) She basically told me what they already told me yesterday and that she got in trouble because the regional director does NOT want emails from parents.

I went to the owner (who was also CC'd on the original letter) and requested that HE contact me at this point.

Sounds like the new director doesn't like paper trails.

I would be very alarmed and voice these concerns with the owner. It seems the establishment is changing very quickly from what you orginally signed on for. I would not be comfortable dropping my child off somewhere not knowing what will be different from the day before.

Keeping the lights on is insane. The director seems vaque by answering a question with a question, ask her if she sleeps with her lights on.

I agree with another poster and I would be researching other places.

The site director got in "trouble" because she should be dealing with the parents and not calling out WHO made the decision and "placing blame" elsewhere. They should stand by the decisions made whether or not they actually agree with them. Its her JOB.

Even more reason that I would be annoyed with the stite director. If she was foolish enough to share information with you that she shouldn't have, it's her own fault she got in "trouble", not yours because you are concerned about the new policy. It was bad judgment on her part and she should take the consequences for it.

If you don't mind. What day care center do you use? I am thinking about using a chain and I wonder if it's the same one.

TIA

I agree that the site director should take responsibility & not pass the buck on decisions made - even if she doesn't agree with them. However, what if she did state this is their new policy & not put the blame on the regional director?

Then you'd be writing the regional diretcor & owner about the uncooperative site manager (who is really only enforcing their rules)?

Putting your child in daycare is supposed to ease your tension, not increase it with a child who is now off schedule for a decision they made & did not share with the parents. The fact that you are being told you got the site director "in trouble" is ridiculous. You are not to blame here. They need to get their act together & inform parents of decisions - and if the parents don't like the decisions, they should be able to voice their concerns to every manager there.

ITA with all of this! Sounds like the new director doesn't want to be bothered with complaints...well, guess what, it comes with the job (just like compliments do)!

Good for you for going to the owner!

(I used to teach in day care. By the 2nd week of "school" we had the kids on such an awesome routine...If it ever got interuppted, I would NOT have been a happy teacher..Having one or 2 of your own is one thing, but, having 8 all in one room together is another....the teacher(s) AND the children ALL need routine)!

I'm in Putnam. It's a small chain mostly in CT.
