Re: WR - Did you attend your cocktail hour?

DH went down immediately but I stayed in the Bridal suite for some time. I was sick for my wedding & I was just trying to get food in my system. I did eventually make it down there to see all our guests enjoying their food!!! I am so glad I went down there though, we got to mingle with everyone & it made the reception that much better...

We did. We took out pictures before our wedding. We are Jewish and there is no tradition not to see the bride before the wedding.

It was great. After the wedding we spent a few minutes alone, bustled up my dress adn hit the cocktail hour.

Of course I didn't get to eat or drink until everyone went into the ballroom- then they served us plates and put a big tablecloth around me (like a bib) so I could eat.

We did and took photos while our guests were being seated and getting their salads. We disappeared for about 20-30 min.

Re: WR - Did you attend your cocktail hour?

No, but that was due to religious purposes. We did a very religious jewish ceremony, so DH and I were not permitted to see eachother for the 7 days leading up to the wedding. Our first time "meeting" again was at the end of the Cocktail Hour at the veiling ceremony (bedeken). Aside from the obvious being married part, this was the most exciting part of the wedding ceremony.

Re: WR - Did you attend your cocktail hour?

Absolutely. Although I don't remember eating any of the food.

DH and I spend most of the time apart talking to our guests.

They were discussing this on LIW (for the 1000 time) and it always seems that I am in the minorty. I didnt attend our CH but our BP did. DH and I were taking pics during that time and we wanted to make our entrance into the room the first time that everyone sees us.

how about you guys?

Yup! We did the same. DH and I stayed in the bridal suite. The BP went to the CH but some of them kept coming back into the suite because it was so nice and we had our own spread of food. We wanted to make that big entrance too! Chat Icon

I always loved the CH at weddings and functions like that, so yes we definetly did. We did pics before church, so we would be able to go. We spent some time in the bridal suite, but most of it in the CH .

Re: WR - Did you attend your cocktail hour?

We had our ceremony at the RH and didn't see each other before so we had to take pics during the CH. Then after pics our BP and families got to mingle and we took some more alone. When we were all done we went up to the bridal suite to be alone, they had food up there for us to enjoy and our bridal attendant brought us our drinks so it's not like we missed anything.

Re: WR - Did you attend your cocktail hour?

we both did - the cocktail hour has the best food!!! sooo worth it, and we still got to make our grand entrance! it was also good because the bridal attendant and servers kept bringing me drinks and food so i could schmooze with the guests and i didn't have to "waste" time with a receiving line or saying hi to everyone during the reception.
