We have this problem but with our house phone. There is an ortho ped group on the North Shore that keeps giving out our home number as THEIR cell number (one number difference). So we go through stages where for a week or two at a time we get 50+ calls with people trying to fax PERSONAL records or info to our home. We have tried calling the person (sometimes people set their faxes for automatic calling so it calls say every 3 mins or 5 mins and eventually we have to hook up our fax machine to get the calls to stop - because the numbers are sometimes private we can't block them either. We call the office and they swear that they aren't giving out the number but I have spoken with some of the people who are trying to fax and they swear that is the number they were giving - one person actually called the office back and they gave OUR number again to them. We wonder if it is someone new at the office because it comes and goes in stages - without any calls for months.

We have had this number for about 7 years though so we hate to change our number now.

This happened to me a few years ago. I called back one number to tell them they had the wrong number and they hinted that I was lying to not pay "my" bills The calls never stopped, not even from the company I called.


I had to change my number. I called our phone company and they said that it seemed someone was giving my # out to hide from bill collectors and since there was SO many, it was the only way.

i have creditors calling for a Rosa (and last name). I've had the same number for YEARS - I've spoken to the creditors - sometimes they talk to me sometimes they just hang up on me! When i get to speak to someone I tell them its the wrong # - it stops for a bit but then it starts all over again.
this has been going on for YEARS -- like 6 years or so
