WWYD- flu shot 6/7 month old
At DD 5 month visit, ped strongly suggested giving her the flu shot at 6 month. Personally, for my own reasons be they silly or not, I am not a fan of the flu shot. I told him I was leaning towards no flu shot and he was not pushy about it. He brought it up again at her 6 month visit and gave us alot of information on studies that were conducted and myths that people buy into... DH is for her getting it. I am still not comfortable with it. She is not in daycare, stays home with DH and is not around other children. One of my main reasons for her not getting it is that she is still yound and it is one more vaccine. If we were to get it, she would get the flu shot followed ever two weeks with vaccines (flu is two shots split two weeks apart). She is due for her 3rd round of some vaccines she already received. So, after all my rambling, my questions is.....Did you/Would you get DC vaccinate for the flu at 6-7 months or did you wait til the next flu season?

Re: WWYD- flu shot 6/7 month old
DS got his flu shot at 6m, and I didn't really worry about that one. There are other shots that trouble me more.
DS really doesn't have any reactions to shots I didn't worry, this is a shot based on the flu shot given every year for a pretty long time, the base is pretty much the same.
Myself on the other hand, I get all the typical reactions from vaccines. So I'm very selective about what I get. I'm also one of those people that gets every side effect of a drug, even if the drug doesn't work.
I think you have to look at this case by case and evaluate your DS histroy.
Also the flu shot is not a guarantee you wont get the flu, its a bet, they stick only what they "think" will be most prominent this year in there. So take it all into account when making a decision.

Get it! You don't want her to get the flu! She might not be around a lot of children, but she can get the flu from just being out and about.

Re: WWYD- flu shot 6/7 month old
My DS is a bit over 6 months and will not be getting the flu shot. My Ped also asked me a couple of times, I said its not up for discussion. IMO it is just not necessary right now. I am home w/DS and we are healthy, he is thriving. If he gets the flu he will get sick and then feel better. Also the flu shot is not a guarantee, to me it is just not worth it.
That is JMO, you need to do what you are comfortable with.

DD is getting it on Tues at her 6 month visit. She is home all day but has a brother in preschool. Not sure what I would do if that wasnt the case...

I dont give either of my kids the flu shot and DH and I dont get it either. It's a personal decisions...I dont think there is a right or wrong answer. Do what YOU feel comfortable with.
