WWYD? (if anything)
I wouldn’t have said anything. Same thing if I was waiting for a parking spot I wouldn’t beep for the person to get out faster.

Im confused, how did you know she wasn't trying on clothes? I've talked to my sister while trying on clothes in the fitting room.
You can tell if someone is changing clothes while trying to keep their phone by their head. You can hear hangers being moved, clothes being changed. You can tell. This woman was just talking on the phone - definitely wasn't trying on clothes at the same time
With Bluetooth you don't need to hold the phone to your head.
I guess you had to be there - you could tell she wasn't trying on clothes
Well unless you were being weird and peering through the slats you really couldn’t tell
Oh come on. You can tell. You can see someone's feet under the stalls or hear movement. If she was nursing a baby there would have most likely been a stroller.
I probably would have knocked and complained to the people behind me on line loudly enough for her to hear, but I'm very passive aggressive like that...
People are just so self absorbed it's insane. Have a little awareness for your surroundings and get the F out of the fitting room when you are done.

No, I wouldn't have done anything. It wouldn't have even crossed my mind to knock on her door.
Same. I'm very non confrontational, especially in public. You never know what type of lunatic you're dealing with.

I have to say. I find knocking on the door more rude/obnoxious than what the lady was or wasn't doing on the fitting room.

I would not have done anything. You wait your turn like others, go find another changing area, or just buy the stuff and return later.

Agreed. I think knocking on the door or sighing loudly is much more self absorbed than the woman talking on the phone in the fitting room. And it can’t be confirmed or denied if she was or was not trying anything on lol. people don’t make as much noise as you think trying on. She may have just been trying on a bunch of shirts that came from a table. If the worst problem you have in life is have to wait 5 extra minutes for a fitting room I don’t feel bad for you...

I actually always knock on a door before entering a fitting room to make sure no one is in there. Never knew that was rude..... I thought it was considerate so I don't walk in on someone half naked. But yeah, I would complain if I could clearly tell, for whatever reasons, that someone was just chit chatting away while there is a line of people waiting.

Obviously you would knock if you don’t know if someone is in there, but don’t give me that snide crap that you are knocking as a “courtesy” when this entire thread is about someone sitting in the dressing room talking. No one knows she wasn’t trying on, everyone is just assuming and saying they would knock on the door to make a point because they are tired of waiting, and that kind of behavior is rude...

I would not do anything and actually if I was the one in the dressing room and someone came and knocked on the door to ask me to leave or was sighing loudly, i'd probably tell them to screw or just sit myself down and make them wait even more.

It is rude for someone to use a dressing room as their personal phone booth. It floors me that anyone WOULDN’T find that to be rude. I don’t have a half hour to stand around waiting for a dressing room because it’s being hogged by someone on the phone. Try on your crap and move along.

And where exactly did I say this was the worst problem in my life??? I didn't realize this board was only for posting about major life problems. All I did was ask a question - wanted to see how others might handle the situation. Geez....

I didn't ask her to leave or sigh loudly. I tapped on the door so that she would be aware that people were waiting. I didn't do anything more than that. Obviously she didn't care. And before I knocked on her door, I had knocked on another one because I wasn't sure if that fitting room was empty. The woman in that room answered that she was in there - as is normal. I didn't have a hissy fit or say anything to the woman on her phone. But I do think it was rude of her to carry on a non-urgent phone call while other people were waiting
And I'm sorry you feel that way - I do not go through life trying to make it more difficult for anyone else. If I do accidentally inconvenience someone else, I would apologize, not make the situation worse. It's called common courtesy - something that seems to be missing in today's world

On this board if you ever dare to bring up a "first world problem " just to vent or ask opinions on it, that is the standard response it seems.

I agree. Would it be ok if it was a bathroom and a line of people had to pee? Using a place for your own business other than what’s intended (esp when there are people waiting) is rude.

WWYD? (if anything)
Something similar happened to me at Marshall’s once. There was a long line of women waiting for a fitting room and I was first on the line waiting. Some woman in the fitting room right in front of me was on her phone talking sooo loudly about friend drama, etc... the women behind me were all rolling their eyes at her, it was really ridiculous. But none of us said anything to her; we just waited. So she finally comes out and I go in her room, she left it a mess with clothes hanging everywhere. I start to take off my shirt and then she starts trying to open the door and banging on it at the same time yelling that she left her clothes in there. I opened the door and she just grabs her stuff, while she’s still on the phone, and walks away. Not once did she say excuse me or thank you. So freaking rude.

That’s not even it lol. They are all saying that this lady was not trying on clothes but no one can confirm that. The bottom line is mind your own business and wait your for your turn, shit we learned in elementary school. Enough with the “standard response” crap

Enough with what standard response crap? I said it once. The way people get so defensive about this I assume hogging dressing rooms must be a standard practice and it hit a nerve. Jeez

Re: WWYD? (if anything)
For me this goes in the same category as the people. Who are on the phone while paying for something or ordering.
It hinders you from doing the thing you need to be doing
Now if you’re not in a position where someone is behind you, talk all day Talk till the cows come home
Would I have knocked, probably not
But to not think that this lady was yapping while trying on and it making the whole process slower ..come on

I would never have said anything. She could have been trying the clothes on at same time. I would have been irritated and felt she was being inconsiderate, but so are many people I encounter in stores and everywhere.

Re: WWYD? (if anything)
No matter what anyone claims on here talking on the phone while trying on clothes is completely inappropriate when there is a line of people. It’s rude, plain and simple. Get over yourself and your phone call. It can wait. Try the clothes on and move on. If there’s a line of people and you are talking to your sister asking for opinions take some pics and send them to her when you are out of the fitting room.
This is what is wrong with people today. They have so little regard for others because they are so selfish. It’s really sad. And you know what, some people can’t spare 10 extra minutes while you chit chat. They may be rushing to pick something up on a lunch break or need to pick up a kid somewhere. Just have a little awareness. Maybe you have all the time in the world but not everyone does. Be a little considerate of others. And if you don’t agree go try on some clothes and talk on the phone at the same time and tell me it didn’t slow you down.

WWYD? (if anything)
The majority of people I see, use their cell phones for personal use. They carry it everywhere and talk about the most mundane tasks while in the midst of other mundane tasks. The level of inappropriate phone use is rampant. Save a personal conversation for your car ride, when no one else can hear one side of the drama that is your life. No one cares.
I remember being on the train once. It was a Sunday morning and the train was packed. This 20 something was on her phone the entire time. She was talking about her boyfriend and the fight they had and blah blah blah. A full train car of people heard every word of this conversation and not one person gave a poop. But no one else could have a conversation because of her voice and it carrying through the whole train. And the language that this woman was using was completely inapproprite.
When you go shopping, just shop. If you want to talk to your sister/mother/brother/friend, invite them to go shopping with you. But stay off the cell phone and just enjoy the time alone.
