Re: WWYD? (if anything)

I can’t believe we are dictating when and where people can use their own personal cell phones. I do think it’s rude to waste a dressing room when you aren’t changing. However, I can multi task and I would love for someone to tell me or make a comment about me using my cell phone. Let’s see how well that goes over.

Who has that much time to be in people conversation and lives like that. I sure as hell don’t.

For me this goes in the same category as the people. Who are on the phone while paying for something or ordering.

It hinders you from doing the thing you need to be doing

Now if you’re not in a position where someone is behind you, talk all day Talk till the cows come home

Would I have knocked, probably not

But to not think that this lady was yapping while trying on and it making the whole process slower ..come on

totally agree- its self absorbed to use the dressing room as a phone booth the OP knocking once is not self absorbed....

amazes me how common courtesy is so controversial, the entitlement is out of control

Re: WWYD? (if anything)

I'm torn lol I get that it's rude. Totally rude and I would never do it because I don't like to inconvenience anyone. At the same time, I think like... who are you that I have to hurry trying on clothes to get out of your way? I rush around 24/7. If I had a day to actually go shopping and not have to rush around, I'd be pretty pissed if someone tried moving me along. It's not like she was in the only changing room, there are plenty of them.

No one is saying you need to rush. Take your time, try on whatever you want in the time you need to do it. But don't slow yourself down and tie up the room by taking a call. If the call is that urgent, ask them to hold on a sec, get dressed and vacate the room. Finish your call and then go back and finish trying things on. It's plain and simple and it's common courtesy. I honestly can't believe people think otherwise. This thread has me really wondering....

Re: WWYD? (if anything)

I cant believe some of the responses on this thread...

I personally wouldnt have said anything...because like others said, you never know who has a few screws loose...

But of course it is incredibly rude IF she was in fact using it as a phone booth...which who knows, but I understand what you mean when you just know.

Its the same for any other type limited service situation...

If I was to sit in my car parked at a gas pump, finished pumping but decided to i dont know, organize,my wallet while there is a line of people waiting, wouldnt that be rude?

I personally dont like to talk on my phone where others could hear my conversations. I find it so strange when people do that. Like sure I will answer the phone for a quick minute to answer a question or say I will call you back. I am not going to re-hash my day with you...I take my calls on bluetooth in the car or at home, but thats just me!

There are women in my building from other offices who talk ON SPEAKER while sitting on the toilet in a stall.
You here them peeing and talking at the same time.
I flush in the next stall and they just talk over it.
It's mind boggling!

Re: WWYD? (if anything)

Wait, this lady is yapping away on her cell while there’s a line of people piling up at the door and the OP is the one being called self-absorbed for knocking ONCE to remind this person she doesn’t actually own the fitting room?? How??

So I guess I can eat my lunch in there as long as I’m trying on clothes in between bites.

It is a fitting room. It is provided to customers to try on their clothes and then exit. It isn't meant for anyone to move into, to entertain guests in, or to swap falafel recipes. If it’s absolutely important to talk about your day you do it while you shop, not in the dressing room.

If it’s so important that you get your sister’s neighbor’s opinion on your outfit you try on the outfits, snap the pics, then you step out into the common area and send the pics and discuss which potato sack looked best. You don’t tie up every other shopper’s day because you have to discuss which sweater is your best fall color according to your astrological sign with your mailman’s accountant in a limited enclosed space. It absolutely is about common courtesy which is severely lacking. Nobody wants to grow old waiting for you while they hear about your latest adventures with your ingrown toe nail.

OP you did nothing wrong. You knocked once. You didn’t harass this person. I probably wouldn’t have knocked because you never know what kind of crazy lurks on the other side of that door. People are so entitled and enraged these days that she (and sounds like several people on this thread) could’ve stabbed you with a clothes hanger.

And THIS is why I online shop these days. People need to get over themselves. Who even WANTS to spend that much time in a rank fitting room that smells like ass??

So if you were on your lunch break and needed to run to the ATM to grab cash, and there was a line because somebody was standing in front of the ATM chatting away on their phone and barely pressing the buttons, you wouldn’t be annoyed?? Of course you would.
