This is why we are not telling them the names we pick. That way it will be too late, and they will look really rude if they mention anything after the baby is here w/ the name.

I would still use them.

Speaking from experience, eventually the name starts to signify the child and your feelings for the name change.

When I was pg the 1st time around we weren't going to tell anyone the names we picked out. Everyone kept throwing in their ideas and both moms said as long as it didn't start with a "K" sound b/c our last name starts with a K.

We we loved the name Kaydyn and we didn't really care what our families thought. They like the name now that she is here.

I say if it is something you guys really like then go with it. It'll grow on them once she is here.

ITA agree with everyone. I think you've picked lovely names. I would name your child whatever YOU want and your parents and anyone else will get over it. You're not going to please everyone so the most important thing is that you and your DH agree and are happy.

Your child, your choice. They got to chose your name, they don't get to chose your child's name.

Those two names are gorgeous. If I were you I would use them anyway. My parents didn't like the name we chose for DD and we used it anyway. Now they say the name is like the name of a princess, LOL. It grows on them once they see the baby.

My dad hates the name Aidan and has been on my case ever since I told him wayyyy back in the beginning of the pregnancy.

Aidan is still in our top three. We will figure it out once we see him.

It bothers me to know that he doesn't like the name - but I'm also over it at this point. When he wants to carry my baby for nine months and get cut open to deliver him - then he can name him....until then - it's my decision.

I know now that if we do have another child I will not be telling ANYONE the names we choose.

They haven't had any issues with our boys names (mostly b/c they really don't know what we're leaning towards) but when i told my mom that if it's a girl it's going to be Emerson Rose, this was her reaction

"Oh Emerson? I'll just call her Emme cause I like that better. Are you giving her the name Rose b/c of your grandmother? B/c you know your other grandmother is going to say something about that"

OH WELL, that's life. I don't care.

My mom know i'll go against her in a second. So she's been a lot better when it comes to this stuff.

And I ALWAYS do the "Did you not get to name your 3 kids?!?!"

She hates that lol

I dont think anyone really likes our girl name which is Angelina Nicole...everyone does the ooooo thats nice <in a high pitched voice lol>
I really dont care what they like and ppl already said oh can we call the baby Angie or Angel....if I wanted you to call the baby that I would have given her that name...sorry vent over.
But at the same time, my mom talked me out of a few boy's names i liked (and im actually glad she did) bc they really didnt fit

I would be torn.....on one hand yes it is MY child, but to HATE a name I would wonder why. I guess it would depend why they disliked it. When Joe and I were thinking about boys names a name we ♥ was Freedrick and we would call him Fritz. I can not tell you the sh*t we heard. We loved the name and it was special since my husband is German and very proud of that. It does bother me the way peoploe reacted, but at the end of the day we still would have considered it with the others. You have to make yourself and DH happy. Naming YOUR child is a right of passage and YOUR right alone.

I'm in a similar situation and I'm totally torn as to what to do as well. We are stuck between two names, Alexandra and Anna, my preference is Alexandra, but the whole family is pushing for Anna. Should I go with the popular favorite or with what I really want?

On the one hand I think, my kid = OI get to name her, on the other hand, I don't want to hear it for the rest of her life!

I think your names are beautiful! We aren't telling our parents (we are pretty much assuming they'll hate them- just based on conversations we've had) so we would definitely use them anyway. I am sure the names will grow on them - I think of how much I've changed my mind towards names my DH liked.
I think your mother should be unbelievably honored and flattered that you chose her name for a middle, that would really make me mad.

Our three girl names are:
Quinn
Chloe
Zoe

No one really likes them but we don't care! Our DD#2 will have one of them!

My parents and sister HATE the name we chose for DS. We don't give a crap what they think. Of course at the shower my mother acted like she loved it too...

I've already told DH next time we are keeping the name a secret until I give birth. My family nagged me to change the name for weeks. They finally realized that there is nothing they can do about it. Especially since the bookmarks we gave out as part of the favors have his name on them!

That is one of the many reasons why we keep the name a secret until after baby is born!

My MIL didn't like the name we chose for our ... I could care less what she thought.
Oddly enough, she loves it so much now she says it all the time.

My parents didn't like our girls name either, but we were going to use it anyway "Shanna". I found out a couple of days ago I'm having and boy and one of the first comments they made was "Thank God, our grandchild isn't going to be named Shanna."
